Biham III
Habitable planet in the Biham System.
Biham III is a large planet, with a strong gravitational field. This means life on the world has evolved for the more powerful gravity. However, the real distinctive feature of the planet is the several species of trees there. These trees cover the planet so thick that they can change the weather just by rotating the leaves. They could theoretically cause droughts by rotating them parallel with the incoming sunlight.
Though Biham III is not a noosphere, the massive trees can send messages between each other, allowing them to easily establish a monopoly with the weather they induce. This can be dangerous toCypheans, perticularly when they want to deforest. They have managed to cause a surprising amount of damage to CD infrastructure, so they sent most of their resources to other planets instead, which can be expanded more easily. All the major cities on Biham III remain relatively intact though, despite the weather.
Perhaps the most environmentally unfriendly installation the CD has on Biham III is a large mining facility which was designed to extract materials form the core. However, it has not yet reached the core in depth and as such it mines various metal deposits nearby instead. This mining facility has penetrated well past the solid mantle and extracts metal-rich liquids from the liquid mantle just underneath. Though this means that high quality metal can be refined very easily just by filtering it out from the rest of the slag, only a small quantity of this material is extracted as it is more difficult to lift the liquids up to the mining station than to lift solids, as they have to be entirely encased. The waste heat is used as geothermal power.
Biham III also has a few space elevators. They constantly monitor the weather from orbit in order to prepare the space elevators for any incoming weather patterns.
Furthermore, plant life on the world has evolved a more efficient photosynthesis than most other worlds. This means there is much more life on this world compared to other habitable planets.
The Cypher Dominion occupies it, like other planets in the Biham system. They have destroyed much of the fragile and unique local wildlife with industrial applications however. There are still arge areas of the planet with mostly unaffected ecosystems.
