Ela'k Forest

Ela'k Forest1 forms the northern part of the woodlands that dominate the western edge of Dragonía, along with Jarrak Forest to the south. It's home of one of the world's oldest continuous civilizations, the Útels.

Geography

Ela'k Forest is bordered by the Klalaþan Sea to the west, the Plain of Spirits to the north and east, Jarrak Forest and Vúrakesen Mountains to the south. The climate is mostly temperate, becomes increasingly warmer until it's almost subtropical at the southern edge.
The river Óf, originating to the far east, flows along the northern edge of the forest and ends its journey to the sea as Qaþúlanz Falls. Other rivers include Eastern Óf, -which splits from Óf and flows south along the eastern edge of Ela'k Forest- Vúðúk River, Þán River, Háv'þal River, all of which originate within the forest and flow to the west.
There are three large lakes in the region, namely Úvelan Lake to the east, Rakolúð Lake in the center and Zaþil Lake to the southwest.

Fauna & Flora

Oak, ash and other deciduous trees are common throughout the forest, along with wines and almond trees. Oaks are especially common around towns and cities, due to the native Útels growing them for acorns and wood.
The wildlife is characterized by flightless birds (such as Þe'haned Birds along the coast and Ykan Birds inland), rabbits, rodents (such as Ljúras and Vems) and felines of all sizes (such as Ölan Panthers and Núraðas), Marsh Boars and giant Þaplú Salamanders.

Trivia

The northernmost settlement in Ela'k Forest is the town of Þynarút on the southern bank of Óf, while the easternmost one is the town of Davar on the west bank of Eastern-Óf, both in Malónat. The southernmost settlement is Anedúþal, capital of Kaiqonon on the western bank of Dú'þal (Húrr River), and the westernmost one is the town of Þahót on the western bank of Þán River.
