Anedúþal

Anedúþal is the capital of Kaiqonon, located on the banks of Dú'þal (Eastern Óf past the point it merges with the Vikrú River) in the southern part of the country. It's one of the oldest cities in Ela'k Forest and the most densely populated, as per tradition it cannot be expanded past the ceremonial boundaries of its palisade.

Demographics

Most inhabitants belong to the Kaiqon tribe, since Anedúþal is also their main city, with a few Vehals and Faþilítans living there as well.

Defences

As with most Útel cities, a palisade surrounds it which forms its ceremonial boundaries, though in the case of Anedúþal these walls haven't been expanded for centuries. Beyond the palisade is a moat, one of its kind in Ela'k Forest.

Architecture

While the architecture resembles the style common to Ela'k Forest in general, the layout is quite different. Virtually all houses are two stories high and rooms are noticeably smaller than in many other Útel cities. The upper floors are connected by an extensive system of balconies and bridges above the streets to reduce traffic on ground level, with designated bridges serving the same purpose as gazebos in other cities (marriage ceremonies, elder councils, scribes comparing their documents etc.).
