Ilkigit Sea

Mlúkrok: Ilkigit/Ilkikit

The Ilkigit Sea1 is the ocean southwest of the Dragonían continent, bordered by the Klalaþan Sea to the northwest, Vorran Peninsula to the north, Vúrakesen Mountains and Jarrak Forest to the northeast, Súrkniss Sea to the east, and the impenetrable mist that separates Dragonía from the elemental worlds of Light and Fire to the west and south, respectively.
Near the western edge, the sunlight becomes so bright that it illuminates all but the deepest crevices on the sea floor, while to the south and especially southeast, the sea's temperature is so high that it's constantly boiling away, both due to the influence of the element of Fire and volcanic activity at the bottom.
The name is derived from one of the languages spoken by the reptilian Kroks who inhabit the Vorran Peninsula, meaning 'splendid' or 'dazzling', and originally referred only to the sparkling sea by and south of the western tip of the peninsula and the Virrem Islands beyond. Nowadays the Kroks along the western and parts of the southern coast of the peninsula use the name for the ocean south of Vorran as a whole, but others make little distinction between it and Klalaþan Sea to the north, using the name Þerla for both.

Geography

Major rivers that drain into Ilkigit Sea include the Epvor River, Íseb River, Naþvakró River and Þvan River on the Vorran Peninsula and the Húrr River in Jarrak Forest, along with several ones that flow beneath the Vúrakesen Mountains.

Fauna & Flora

The western edge of the Ilkigit Sea is home to to an unique ecosystem, as the intense sunlight -and to lesser extent, moonlight- allows for many species of algae to thrive far into the depths, which feed all sorts of strange creatures, including Efras, the largest lifeforms found in all of Dragonía. Outside this region, most of the fauna and flora are are found closer to the Virrem Islands or the mainland, while to the south and southeast, different ecosystems form around very specific temperatures, with those living near boiling point being dominated by particularly hardy bacteria.
