Pararap River

Drintic: Pararap /phaːraraːph/
Pararap River1 is the only major river and main source of water on the Nep Peninsula, an isolated region in southeastern Dragonía inhabited by the Drints, small, carnivorous peoples who subsist entirely on wild cattle roaming the peninsula.
The river's source is located on the central peninsula, whence it meanders east and south and finally drains into the Súrkniss Sea to the southeast.
The wild cattle herds that wander throughout the region often need to cross river at certain times a year in search of new pastures, and the Drints that follow either cling to or leap from one animal to the other in order to get to the other side, as they are poor swimmers.

Fauna & Flora

The Pararap is home to a number of plants and animals found nowhere else in Dragonía, many of which were far more widespread throughout the central and eastern parts of the continent before it dried up and became Korrei Desert and the Southern Desert, respectively. Notable species include Karíks (crocodilian-like amphibians that lurk at the bottom of the river), dakals (venomous, semiaquatic mammals), dung beetles, various species of fish, crayfish and small rodents.
Some, such as dakals, dung beetles and karíks, rely on wild cattle crossing the river for food, particularly the karíks which spent most of their time hibernating underwater and only emerge when the animals disturb their rest, and dakals use their venomous bites and sheer numbers to take down calves, sick or old cattle.
