Siiari Ethnicity in Ardre | World Anvil

Siiari

Pronounced see'ARRee. Aernigh for "Nightfall" or "Night People." Colloquially interpreted to mean Westerner. Also called the Shrii, after the Shrii Tongue.   The western Revellians are the people most similar to the stereotypes associated with the Peninsula. Big, fond of furs, self-reliant, and less inclined to congregate in large settlements. Deinain worship is prevalent here, and much of the land is wild and unpopulated. The people are accustomed to living in harsh environs, and are considered blunt and simple by their eastern cousins.   The Green Isle, though in an easterly location, is considered to have a much more Western culture.   The Siiari are sometimes called limpers or staggers by their eastern cousins, the Leante. Many Siiari live in the Fiirwood, a frigid, wild, and dangerous place full of overgrowth. It is said those native to the Fiirwood are so accustomed to moving about over hillocks, huge roots, fallen logs, and other woodland detritus, that they have difficulty walking normally over flatland. Some Leyfolk will even claim they can spot a Siiari solely by how they walk, though this has never been shown to be reliably true.

Spelling: Though it is not actually proscribed in any law or even custom, the Siiari as a whole tend to be extremely suspicious of spelling, more so even than other Milosians. It has been speculated that the ancient custom of burning wizards may have originated with them, back when they ruled over much of the southwestern Peninsula.
