Milosian

The people of the Peninsula are regarded by the rest of the continent as backward, ignorant, and largely inconsequential. Despite centuries of presumed isolation, Milos has become relatively diverse in recent times. The average Milosian could share blood with the Monosi to the north, the Mornals that ruled the land during the age of the New Orckid Empire, the Viisianars of the Old Orckid Empire, the Khabarese from the Crusade, the Samayan pilgrims, or even (some say) the ancient Aernigh who were wiped out before history began. Not to mention the occasional immigrant from Vaina, Eysland, or Liddinawth.   Despite this diversity, Milosians are typically assumed to be ghast in pallor, second only to the Mornals in their paleness. They are often assumed to be soft and bland of feature, with hair of brown, black, or red. Any divergence from these stereotypes, which are in fact quite common, are due to influences from visiting and invading peoples.   The Milosians are primarily descendants of the Orrish, a people widely believed to have broken from the ancient Monosi and traveled into the Peninsula via the Pass of Peril. There, they conquered and wiped out the ancient Aernigh. Nowadays, the Milosians are generally divided between Northerners (Kingsrift, the Hostlands, and the Yfri Fields), a fairly homogenous group of ethnicities that are oft still called the Orrish; and the Southerners (Bastis, Urudun, Ethel, and Revellia), a decidedly more diverse group more often called Peninsulans. Of course, both Northerners and Southerners are descended from the Orrish, and both live on the Peninsula: the terms 'Orrish' and 'Peninsulan' are social divisions used to elevate one group over the other in the mind of the speaker.
