Others connect them with Clan Bastion of Revellia, a shamed and extinct family that fled from conquest. It is entirely possible, of course, that the clan's name comes from the Bastis Canton itself and has no connection to either legendary source. Many members of Clan Bastian seem eager to connect themselves with mythic heroes, and their adversaries seem equally intent on joining them to more shameful figures of history. The Bastians used their castle's position near the cliffs of the Sublime to subjugate the peasants below during the Lost Age, allowing them to establish economic and military dominance coming into the modern era. Overlord of the Sublime is a title held by the chief of Clan Bastian, a source of much resentment to the peasantry below.
