2 - The Autumn Oak

Written by Janto

At the center of Stagubrn Dale is a giant (200 ft tall) oak tree with orange and red leaves. It towers over every surrounding building. A few red ribbons hang down from its tall branches and sway in the wind.
The tree appears in a permanent state of autumn in all seasons.   During festivals, the citizens of the village often hang lanterns and other lights from the oak's branches.

History

It's thought that the tree dates from the Fifth Age when dwarves founded the original settlement here. It was the nexus of their town. When the dwarves withdrew west in the Sixth Age, the giant oak became frozen in perpetual autumn to commemorate their decline.
