Summer Camp Pledge 2022
I would like to broaden my understanding of the world my characters live in, explore its culture, history and nature, because it should be an integral part of the story I'm writing, but I haven't figured out much of that part yet. As for the challenge goals, I'd like to at least reach silver, everything beyond that would be great, so I'll do my best to surpass my own expectations, but I don't know if I'll be able to do it. Update: nevermind, I'm realizing that this is going quite well, so I'm shooting for diamond now.
The themes of this year's Summer Camp are perfect to achieve a better understanding of the world of Leanor, especially on a cultural level. I want to figure out, what Leanor and its people are really like.
My inspiration doesn't come from any specific artwork or such, it's rather a combination of interesting bits of actual history as well as (losely) from books, movies and other media with a similar setting, such as Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, etc. Another major component of keeping me motivated and inspired is music. For writing, I like listening to rather epic music like movie scores and symphonic/melodic metal by bands like Nightwish or Epica, as I'm, in fact doing, right now. I can rarely tell, which specific part is inspiring to me.
I'm not sure if I can adhere to this, but I'll try to find time to write every evening during July (except the first two saturdays because I won't be anywhere near a proper internet connection). Exam weeks at uni are going to keep me busy, but I think it's important to give my mind some room to wander, which Summer Camp is the perfect opportunity for. Since I don't really have any social media, I guess I'll be on my own for this one, but that's how I work best, just some great music, my stories and myself.
