Meador

The city of Meador is the capital of Aguilear, the smallest of the four kingdoms of Leanor. It is situated at the foot of the Eagle's Nest, which is not a large mountain, but one of high importance, since the ruler's castle, which is also called the Eagle's Nest, sits on top of it. A road that starts right in the centre of Meador wraps around the mountain and ends at the castle's outer gate. While the castle on top of the steep hill that looms over the city surely is an impressive sight, it is not what Meador is most famous for.
Meador is a city of science, literature and art as well as the location of Leanor's oldest, most prestigious university and hence, it's largest library, which also houses the archives of the history of Leanor, so accords of all major developments, conflicts and changes throughout the generations are kept here. It is home to some of Leanor's brightest minds, who teach and study at the University of Meador. As a result, the city is largely populated with scholars and students from all over Leanor. It is therefore a place in which many new discoveries and inventions are made. In addition to that, Meador also has a large population of artists such as writers, painters and musicians. So for anyone willing to learn anything, Meador is the place to go.
The fact that the regent of Aguilear lives right next to a city full of young, intellegent people from everywhere, most of which have their own ideas and opinions of how to best govern a state makes for an interesting dynamic. Historically, there frequently were altercations between liberal students and proponents of the traditional kingship, in which weapons were often involved, leading to cases of severe injuries and, occasionally, even death. Because of that, a law was recently passed, forbidding anyone to carry any kind of weapon within reach inside the city walls.
