Roana
Roana was a village in the baithan part of the Dragon's Ridge, located in its north-western section. This part of the Dragon's Ridge experiences relatively little geological activity and is therefore relatively easy to live in. It was one of several small mountain villages in the surrounding valleys. It was destroyed recently by Iohan's troops, who killed or imprisoned nearly all of the mountain folk and burned down the village as they did with the other villages. Roana was the home of Zairah, who lost her family and everything she loved in the aftermath of Iohan's attack.
Due to the volcanic activity of the region, the soil is very fertile, ideal for agriculture. The mountain folk, also known as the Serbaith, were farmers and hunters, living in a mostly self-sustained society, living off the land and its animals. Trade is mostly limited to exchanging of goods with neighbouring villages, which are run in a similar manner. Sometimes, they would travel to Lathear, Baithas largest and most influential city, to sell things like excess pelts and leather, for example from animals that didn't live down in the plains and to buy supplies they couldn't get in the mountains.
The village was built in a simple way, knowing that it might be destroyed by the forces of nature, such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. In a similar way, the Serbaith didn't own more that they needed. The Serbaith were rather secluded from other cultures, since outsiders rarely travel through the mountains, because the main trading routes run through Lupear for reasons of easier, faster travel. People traversing the Dragon's Ridge are more often travellers who travel to see exciting landscapes from up close. Because of that, the villages of the Serbaith weren't protected against intruders. Until Iohan's attack, nobody had ever even bothered considering to attack them.
