Cradle Sophont are those Sophont who evolved naturally rather than being the product of Genestruction, psychic manifestation, or programmatic fluke.

There is little importance to the distinction, except among Sophontists and bigots.

Why do people care? Bragging rights, I suppose. They'd rather be a cosmic mistake rather than a calculated one.
