Glark and I started the day how we should always start our day, with Sno cones! I never thought I would care about that little dude, but he is definitely growing on me. I'll buy him a sno cone any day.
While trying to get sno cones, a caravan arrived into town. Leading it was one of Gilead's Knights. Guess her name is Ingrid and I can only imagine what kind of conquests and madness she has been apart of.
With her was a squire named Tiagus. I guess Crestin knows him from his clan. I'll have to take to Crestin about it later.
After getting a sno cone, Rheda, Glark and I went and grabbed some rations. I got some good eats for the group. While in line, I bumped into a Kenku, which is the first time I've ever seen one before. He said something to me, but I can't remember what it was. Wasn't pleasant, but not a huge surprise. All those people coming into town with Ingrid must be trying to put some pressure on the Baron to sell his land.
Honestly I hope he doesn't sell, at least for a while, because it keeps Siona here.
While I was shopping, Jean went after the Kenku. I didn't see what happened, but I heard the shot. I saw Jean, and others run after the Kenku, but I didn't hear and see anything interesting. Honestly, I am just glad everyone is ok. I'll have to check in with Jean once things settle down.
This contract was going to be a lot of travel and hopefully we would find a site for the next guild's location, are at least an outpost that is well protected.
We left quickly and on the first day of travel I told the group of things I've learned from Siona. Now, it feels weird to share this information with the group, I imagine she was telling me all of this in confidence, but a lot of it was useful to them, and important that they knew. I really need to think about what I am sharing between the two groups. I really don't want to hurt either of them, and I worry that I am going to get pulled into two different directions.
On the second day of travel we made it to the North-East campsite. It was pretty overgrown and we spent some time cleaning it up. While at the campsite Jean shared her connection with the Kenku and that give the chance, the world would be without a Kenku. I should ask Siona if she knows anything about the Kenku, it could help us. Maybe if we try to help Knight Ingrid we could get closer to the Kenku for Jean. I'll have to think about it.
We also talked about switching contracts, but decided against it.
We traveled for many more days, and on day 6 we found a nice location near the river. Rheda jumped on a rock, but it turned out to be a giant mollusk. Things we nasty, and did a bit of damage to Crestin. Everyone basically did their jobs and we killed the two mollusks.
From there, we searched for some good locations, and found the best would actually be the southern spot we had originally found.
After that we started the long journal back. Sprig found an area she knew about for some reason. Seemed odd, and I'll have to make sure she is ok. She has certainly been a rock for me in keeping my grounded while having to play adventurer during the week, and aspiring noble on the weekends. I honestly don't know how I could do it if I didn't have her to confide in.
Jean shared a bit more about her past, that she loved someone, lost them, and owes some people some money. I know Jean can take care of herself, but I worry at times that things will get over Jean's head.
I had a lot of time to think during the long walk. Most of it about life being too short. Watching Crestin get dragged off near the water had me reflect on some things. I think I'm going to tell Siona I love her and see what happens. Hopefully it won't end with me having to find a new city to live in. I'm really starting to enjoy this one.
