Session 23: Completing The First Trial

Started just after the first test and took a right to find a large stone door. Crestin was able to move it pretty easy. Inside the room was another djinn and his crew. We also determined rather quickly I may add that the test included closing the fissure in the floor to cause gas to collect, increase in pressure, and eventually explode.
I may have provided a bit of overkill to this, because I used about half a ton of magma to fill the gap. We quickly got the hell out of the room and held it shut so the djinn was stuck inside. The result was a dead djinn and crew except for a couple fire elementals. We introduced ourselves and learned that they were held against their wills. Turns out Archimedes takes a lot of slaves and prisoners. Sounds like this Archimedes is going to continue to be trouble. Names were Dan and Stan and they were pretty cool dudes. They were just looking for freedom and we offered to let them go freely if they were willing to help us through the trial. They graciously accepted.
From there, we came into what appeared to be a great room with two large pictures on the walls. The first was of the elder flame, Jok'l and all his phoenix glory. The second was Zelvira the core of fire and creation.
 
After that, the path led to a large lava area where we fought a large air elemental followed by the flying creatures from the pit room. We killed all the enemies. Stan and Dan departed, then we crossed the lava by somehow being able to control the flow of the magma. Felt really damn cool to be able to do that.
Once we had finished our makeshift gondola ride across the heart of this volcano we saw our first mark. Two crescent shapes that look like a volcano. We spent some moments studying it, but I imagine it will take a lot more time to master it. We found the first artifact and decided it would be best if Crestin had it.
From there, we made it back to the entrance and rested before returning back to the Merfolk city.
 
Sounds like we will make our way south next. I'll have to warm the other group about Archimedes and his minions. Don't want them getting surprised.
