I made it back into Fiddletown after a rather sleepless night. Went home and checked on Siona and then made my way to the Explorer's Guild. Baron McDuffey had Crestin on lockdown with some kind of magic cage. Norhm showed up and I updated him on everything that had happened. I showed Norhm the sword, and he tried a remove curse spell on it. Turns out the thing isn't cursed. Great... bad news, we need different spells. Norhm and I exited the guild and went over to Rufio's to grab some things. After some discussion, we made it back to the guild. Good timing, because Judacis arrived around the same time. Norhm and Judacis decided on a plan of action and I told them I would pin the sword/hand to the wall so it wouldn't do any damage. With the force cage dropped, Crestin went after Norhm. Spells were cast, snake thing returned to its home, and Crestin was freed from the sword. Baron believes that the sword can somehow allow its owner to travel through the ethereal plane which is why Crestin was able to get away at first, and also why the sword may have been able to get away from its mounting spot before. Glad my accusations didn't get too far from before, but without realizing that magic items can do that, I feel like it was pretty fair to assume another groups involvement. Once the sword was in safe hands (haha), we went over for brunch and a drink, or few drinks. After that we took three days off before heading out west to our next trial.
