Ages of the World

Totania has found itself in many eras throughout its history, though only after the creation of the World Court and the ascension of the Orc Amukk into the Heavens as the new God of Mercy and Beginnings was the practice started of classifying these eras into “Ages.”

Ancient Era (-15,052,948 - 0)

Everything before the start of the “Ages” system is classified into the “Ancient Era.” These are the years that are labeled with a negative number, featuring the creation of the planet, the birth of most of its species, the foundation of most prominent civilizations around the world, and all the wars that had come prior to the World Court.
Amukk by Jarhed
Many stories from this time have become legends, with heroic figures like Kilprax Ildial, Meiriris Nerifir, Amukk God Breaker, Impak Daxur, and Amukk the God being the most well known tales. The World Court tries to disconnect the image of these past figures from their present, even if for much of the time after the Ancient Era, there were those of longer living species like Elves and Dwarves who had been alive during the Ancient Era.   Major events from this time period include:
  • Kath the Eternal is Born (-30,000,000) - The first living creature in Totania, Kath the Eternal, a Golden Dragon Lord hatches from his egg.
  •
  • Fall of the Giant Kingdom (-975,000) - The first major empire of Totania is destroyed by the jealous Goddess Selene in a flood that creates the Northern Sea.
  •
  • The Holy Rebellion (-2024) - Elves and Orcs led by Meiriris Nerifir and Amukk God Breaker rebel against and defeat the Gods Mimir and Satanael.
  •
  • March of the Orcs (-2022 - -1980) - The Orcs are exiled from their land by the Elves, marching to a new land.
  •
  • Magic College Founding (-777) - Kilprax Ildial founds the Magic College as a place of study, becoming the first Grand Wizard.
  • Warbler by Jarhed

  • Draco-Elvish War (-740 - -737) - A war between all of the Draconian Villages and the Elven Kingdom resulting in the defeat and subjugation of the Draconians.
  •
  • The Korvian Plague and the Orchestra- (-515 - -420) - A great plague is spread that kills many Korvians, but ultimately grants them power to conquer their continent with an immortal army led by Warbler.
  •
  • The Beastman Genocide (-424 - -420) - As a response to the Korvian Orchestra, Bud the Hollow, an Orc, unites the Chiefs into a Grand Clan and begins wiping out Beastmen, entirely eradicating the Ratfolk population.
  •
  • The War of Mercy (-15 - 0) - Amukk, an Orc, unites a large force of people from all over the world and declares his intent to kill the Nameless God and take his place in Heaven. After a 15 year war, he succeeds.
  •
  • The Dreamless Sleep (-10 - 0) - Humanity appears on Totania, starting a war against the Goblins, where the Human leader Varth Dreamless becomes a mindless weapon of death and must be stopped by his student and adopted son, Gellark Lionrage.

Age of Heroes (0 - 150)

The Age of Heroes was said to be the Golden Age of Totania. There were many troubles, but all of them were at the time dealt with by the great heroes, said to be the strongest Totania has ever seen.
Gellark Lionrage by Jarhed
These heroes had many great exploits, and those listed below are only some of the few that happened during this great period.
  • The World Court is Founded - Officially the World Court is opened up, while the body existed prior, it is only in the year 0 that they claim themselves as the court of the entire planet, dedicated to justice, and establish their look and policies.
  •
  • Nerodil is Founded - The Human capital city of Nerodil is founded by King Gellark Lionrage and Head Priest of the Church of Athena, Eden Zunno.
  •
  • Theldrar's Tournament (-40 - 24) - Perzita Theldrar, the 7th Grand Wizard, runs a tournament across the entire world where she challenges every strong fighter and proves herself stronger. She defeated nearly every single person she fought, while most of the others ended at a stalemate. Less than ten challengers were able to defeat her in the entire world.
  •
  • Dalman Kills Narros the Adorable (13) - Dalman of the Dwarves slays the Dragon known as Narros the Adorable, which had flown over Ironforge. Dalman is called a hero and even elected King for his actions.
  •
  • Gellark Lionrage's Disappears (15) - King Gellark Lionrage sets off North in a ship with some trusted friends for a diplomatic mission, but disappears into the mist and his never seen again.
  •
  • Narkard Leran becomes Captain Commander of the Elven Army (15) - Narkard Leran, a prominent Elven Warrior, is given the title of Captain Commander, leading the Elven army as the second youngest to hold the title and one of, if not the, strongest.
  •
  • Myrine's Seven Trials (15-22) - Myrine, the Demi-God daughter of Ishtar, attempts to do a series of trials to achieve Godhood. In her attempt, she dies due to her hubris, falling from a tall tower after trying to climb to Heaven.
  •
    Amara by Yumedatchi
  • The Divine Heroes (20) - A group of priests and holy individuals, including Amara of Selene, Dhurnas Blackmane of Hadur, Tankean Nimphonker of Helle, Velthen Saseth of Phrixus, Entropy of Janus, Ishii Daisuke of Erra, and Mash of Irkalla, arrive in Nerodil to spread their religion. They save Nerodil and the world from a great threat, though word of this threat is often hushed and not spoken of in detail for fear of it.
  •
  • The Grand Wizard Struggle (24-530) - Perzita Theldrar is killed by a trick and weak magic attack from Medroth Umtic. This sparks a long era of Draconian history where the Grand Wizard title becomes meaningless, taken up by people with no power, no dignity, and no respect for anyone. Draconian society is considerably weakened and its influence in the world stage becomes almost nothing.
  •
  • The Hero King (-510 - 199) - Guldin Nerifir served his nation as both a soldier and a King from the Ancient Era through the entirety of the Age of Heroes. He was a rock that they relied on, but he relied on his Captains and the Captain Commander just as much. Many call Gellark Lionrage a better Hero King, as Gellark exemplifies the noble qualities of a hero better than Guldin.
Notable figures of this Age included Gellark Lionrage, Amara, Dhurnas Blackmane, Entropy, Tankean Nimphonker, Velthen Saseth, Mash, Ishii Daisuke, Narkard Leran, Dalman, and Perzita Theldrar.

Age of Tranquility (150 - 232)

There is generally little to say about the Age of Tranquility. It was a peaceful time, for the most part, and most history books gloss over it in favor of its predecessor, said to be a perfect time, and its successor, said to be the worst Age. In comparison, the Age of Tranquility is a boring part of history to most, filled with the world living with the aftermath of the great heroes, and the peace they left behind.
Narkard Leran by Jarhed
Some heroes remained in this time, particularly Narkard Leran, the Captain Commander of the Elven Army who kept the peace, continuing his heroic exploits during the Age of Tranquility and keeping the peace.
  • Soul Magic is Collected (156) - Judge Delta, the Dwarven Judge of the World Court, finds Soul Magic and resolves to use it for justice.
  •
  • Narkard Leran Cages the Beasts (164) - Beasts flooded the Elven capital of Camor from an unknown source, but Captain Commander Narkard stopped them before they could do anything too damaging to the city.
  •
  • Master of Food (170-175) - In the final 5 years of his life, Ishii Daisuke gathered the best chefs in the world and did a cooking competition called "Master of Food," having scribes write the stories and the recipes so they could be published around the world. The other purpose of this was to find a successor to his Food Magic and culinary techniques.
  •
  • A Really Funny Fit is Created (229) - Vimbish Baxcol, who goes on to become the 19th Grand Wizard, makes an enchanted outfit that makes anyone who is around it laugh uncontrollably.

Age of Plague (232 - 398)

Also known as the Dark Ages of Totania, the Age of Plague is a blemish in history where most history takes a negative view of the situation. So many people died in the plague, known as Dragon's Doom, that most of the major events that would have taken place during this age did not happen, as people either died or were too weak due to the plague.
Viaxis Vammush by Jarhed
Viaxis Vammush, the 20th Grand Wizard, made the disease as a spell to live up to his ancestor, Qelbor Vammush, who made a less transmissable plague to become the 9th Grand Wizard.   Viaxis wanted to not just live up to his ancestor, but surpass Qelbor. Due to this, when most people mention the Age of Plague, even though Viaxis died 4 years into it, his name is the one that almost everyone will bring up. His fingerprints are on it, and his shadow loomed even after it ended.   It was a time of great strife, where the Beloved King of the Elves, Farlias Nerifir, died to the plague and his son Aratorin took over. Aratorin Nerifir was known as the Unloved King, partially because he was unable to help stop Dragon's Doom and was seen as a product of its horrors rather than a solution.   The Year of the Grand Wizard happened in 350, where there were four Grand Wizards who claimed the title, yet none who held onto it.   Major figures in this Age include Viaxis Vammush, Farlias Nerifir, and Falmath Uphal.

Age of Unrest (398 - 550)

The official statement from the World Court blames Aratorin Nerifir and the unrest caused by Dragon's Doom for this age. Many scholars argue that there should then be no difference in the Ages, but others do see a clear shift as Dragon's Doom begins to die out and health is restored to much of the world.

This group includes Corporal Ironforge, Zork the Spider-Orc, Count Weird, and STNK1, also known as Stinky. They defeat many people, but lose to Tanosh, who frees Spleen's souls in a green light show that shone all over the world.
  •
  • Monion's Item Extravaganza (498) - Sliq Monion, the evil Goblin Lord, sends groups of drawn Goblins, whom he calls Monions, to collect every Item Magic in the world. Age of Justice (550 - 785)

Intended to be a Silver Age for Totania, the Age of Justice was heralded as a return to justice for the world. A second coming of the heroic spirit of the world that had faded away. One of the other major catalysts of this Age of Chaos was the ascension of the Mighty Herald to the Grand Wizard title in Draconian territory.
