My Journey

When I started this world, I didn't think it would become much of a thing. It began as a random idea that came to me when I fell asleep one night. I liked the idea enough to write it down the next day and decided to use World Anvil. I kept adding to it, and the next thing I knew, a few months had passed.   After those few months, I saw the potential in this world and decided to do the Summer Camp event. It was my first World Anvil event, and I absolutely crushed it, writing for all 42 prompts (and then some)! Even though I didn't win any of the prompts afterward, I still had fun.   November came around, and World Anvil started the first NovelEmber event. By this time, I had gotten a solid setting down and wanted this world to become an Epic Fantasy book series. I was working on a Word Goal Tracker during October, so I didn't have time for story planning ahead of time. I started from the beginning of the story, and rewrote some of the scenes I already had. Once I got through that, I essentially became a planster.   Then December hit — my very first WorldEmber. During this time, my world grew (in terms of worldbuilding and followers), surpassing the 10k words for the challenge just by a little. I also became more active in the World Anvil discord and met such wonderful fellow Anvilites! Even though, yet again, I didn't win anything in the end (Imagica stole the categories from me >:3), I still had a great time!
Now, it's time for the next chapter of Legends of the Dragonguard (no pun intended). I have decided to enter the Worldbuilding Awards because why not (I want to win something, dammit!). Whether I win, get nominated, or nothing at all, this world will continue to grow. I've got plans for this world, and hopefully, I can make this into something greater over the next year.

Best World 2025

Legends of the Dragonguard

An epic fantasy novel series set in a world with mid-level solarpunk technology and features dragons.

Corruption bleeds into every corner of the world, nurtured by those in its shadows. Cults whisper of a long-forgotten power, while rumors of Ancient Dragonkin returning resonate throughout the land. Here are the stories from the Legends of Dragonguard.

I am seeking the coveted Best World award! I think I've got an interesting setting for a world with decent worldbuilding. It will only continue to grow, and I mean, who doesn't like dragons?

Inspired by the How to Train Your Dragon and The Elder Scrolls franchises, this world has a mid-level solarpunk technology setting teaming with dragons of all kinds, some of which have been assimilated into human society. While the Dragonguard prominently feature these creatures as part of their military organization to protect the public, many nefarious people and groups use dragonkin to their advantage. There have also been rumors that Ancient Dragonkin have returned after hiding for a century.

The story takes place about 100 years after the Draconian War, but new threats have arisen since then. To safeguard the world from another cataclysmic event, a chosen group of Guardians must brave the shadows to unveil chilling hidden agendas.
Delve into the world of Legends.

Forgefest is a festival where blacksmiths and glassblowers alike compete for a trophy and the title of Forgemaster. It started as a friendly competition between two blacksmiths from neighboring regions and eventually became an annual tradition.   The blacksmith winner will win a little anvil trophy, called the World Anvil, and earn the title of Forgemaster. The glassblower winner will win a unique artistic glass trophy and earn the title of Forgemaster.
I wanted to incorporate World Anvil into my world, and what better way than a blacksmithing competition?

The Shimmerhorn is a unique species of drake adorned with crystal formations on its body. Only found in the Glistening Meadows, they sit in the mineral-rich waters of the hot springs, growing their crystal formations further. Their horns, some spikes, and tail club are all made of translucent crystal, which can give a faint glow under UV light.   They vocalize using crystals that grow in their throats as they drink the hot spring water. This makes an almost squeaky sound, similar to walking on Singing Sand.
One of my favorite dragonkin species so far! It's so unique and almost mysterious. The hatchlings sound like baby crocodiles, and I want to pet them.

A dragonguard is a highly organized military force primarily tasked with defending its state against external threats. It often employs various dragonkin, giving it its name.   The Dragonguard Alliance is a global coalition of member states. Regional dragonguards are activated by the Alliance to handle conflicts that require regional collaboration. While regional forces can operate independently, the Alliance will maintain a clear command structure with Coalition Officers ranking above four-star commanders.
I could not think of a better article for the Strength & Honor category than the Dragonguard itself. Inspired by real-world organizations like the U.S. Military and NATO.

Commercially available ten years after the Dragonguard had invented it, graphene battery technology created lightweight, long-lasting, durable batteries. They are made of silicon oxide-graphene compound, which attributes them to be lightweight and more efficient than older batteries.   The Dragonguard utilizes standardized power cells consisting of this technology, referred to as Small Tactical Universal Battery (STUB).
Being a Pillar of Progress in the real world, I was able to base this on actual technology. I had the idea of having some kind of graphene battery in my world for a while, and now I don't have to use science fiction to explain it!

Discovered during the start of the Draconian War, a mysterious stone tablet with writing on it known as the Dragonstone has been the subject of countless speculations and myths over the years. There are many theories about what's written on it, where it came from, and who made it, but no one is sure about any of them.
There is not one myth about this stone tablet, or even two. How about SEVEN‽ I mean, what better article for the Myths and Legends category than 7 myths for one item?
