Hub: Rules and Terms

This page is dedicated to the rules of the game and the terms used to define them. All of these are guidelines to help play the game, setting a precedent on the default way to play CHASE.

Using Rules and Terms

This page is divided into 2 sections, linking to other pages and appendices that are used to help create characters and play, manage, or run the game. Everything here is, hopefully, as full and comprehensive as they can be. That being said, there will always be other material out there by those who may have something better to say. Those pages with extra information will be linked to those guides and/or content creators who have made supplemental info in their own right.

What is a Rule?

A rule is a specific guideline to play the game with, outlining the broads strokes of certain game aspects and how to use them.

Basic Rule

A Rule needed to play the game, going over basic information that will be used often.

Intermediate Rule

A rule that covers a more advanced aspect of the game that can be ignored or isn't always interacted with. An example would be Crafting Rules for games and players that want to make things they can't otherwise get. These can be ignored by using vendor NPCs and normal loot to cover those gaps.

Advanced

Exceptionally niche rules that aren't used in every game, and/or are conversions of other rules from other systems (with sources directions to find the originals).

Gamemastery Rules

Rules for GMs and how to run the game, as well as equations and math for how all this works.

Optional and Variant Rules

Rules, and even whole rulesets, on how to play CHASE in other ways. CHASE was made with a high fantasy heroism in mind, so rules on how to use the system on apocalyptic worlds, with 'street level' heroes, or modern settings will be listed here.

What is a Term?

A Term is a bit of text that is used quite often in the game, with a definition attached. Terms involve game mechanics as much as Rules do, but affect more than the subject a Rule would cover. Terms also act as reminder text and will often be linked before Rules will.
