Term: Simple Weapon

Simple Weapons are the weapons of the understandable and the expected, which can be used by almost anyone, but take training to use very well. As such, Simple weapons are limited in scope and number, but effective none the less at inflicting damage for anyone who can use them.

Tellingly, Simple weapons from older editions have been translated to Martial Weapons if they fit the bill, or do too much. An example of such is the classic Dagger and the Knife

After Simple weapons, there are Martial Weapons. Natural Weapon also exist, though they are...technically their own thing.
