Dar'Reth

Situated on the deep and sheltered Reth Bay, one might think that Dar'Reth were a major port. Unfortunately for its residents, Gartcha to the west and Yaty to the south have long ago locked down mercantile traffic along the western coast of the Prydith Peninsula. The only boats found it its harbor are dedicated to fishing or, in the summer, whaling in the Bay. Both help provide ample food for the small town and whale oil is a major export that many caravans pick up here on their trip east.

Instead, the town serves a natural stopover along the these caravan routes before crossing the bridge across the River Dar into Zennon proper. Ther river, which runs too quickly to safely ford, and its bridge are guarded by a small garrison of soldiers that double as peace-keepers in town when merchants and their guards get too rowdy.

As the bridge is somewhat upriver, the town stretches along its banks in a narrow band between the bridge itself and the bay. Along its length a traveller can find a trio of taverns, all with simple but clean rooms, and a number of craftsmen that cater to caravans. Farms run right up to the edge of the town and while spacious, are poor producers in the rocky soil. A few have tried their luck mining in the Rheuthengage Mountains that loom over the town to the east but to date, nothing of real substance has been found.
