Tidal Ring
It is only by the fickle powers of Jendredi that the Tidal Ring in Mathe is both the closest to its deep-water harbor and holds the new construction. After the 20-foot wall of water struck the port in the mid-730's, there was little left of harbor front other than waterlogged fragments of timber and the same chunks of foundations that still litter the Rubble Ring. Unlike that inner ring, however, the harbor received immediate attention from the both the King of Mathe and even the High King of Prydith. With silver and gold fueling a construction boom the city soon found itself boasting the finest piers, largest warehouses, and shiniest taverns in all of the Inner Seas. Its roads are straight and perfectly cobbled, radiating from the harbor like spokes on a wheel. And while the salt from Mathe Bay has begun to color the timbers a traditional sea gray, the city has made an honest effort to keep the port from acquiring the detritus often found in other cities. There is even an edict against littering and public drunkenness. While neither are routinely enforced, the city has kept up extra patrols, paid for by what many consider exorbitant taxes levied against the fine apartments that the city's merchant class have built above the shops of the ring.
