Danbury
More than two centuries - no one can quite remember exactly when - an enterprising young man arrived along the deep cut banks of the River Narmouth, just past a spat of rapids and had a bold vision of the future. Looking around a massive sycamore and the more reasonably sized stands of cedar and alder that dominate the Kyayn Forests, he thought to himself that this spot would make the perfect place for a mill. It could be used to cut timber harvested from the great forest and perhaps even one day, when large stretches were cleared, grind grains into flour and his children's children would be counts or dukes or even kings in the Kingdoms of Prydith. Today the old mill that he built still stands though most of it has been converted into the Dustmill Inn and neither the millstones nor the common room see much use. While none of his descendants live in the village today, the man who first built the mill - locals think he might have been named Dansby or Danny or Dandy - did manage to lend his name to the village.
The village itself defines quaint, with a half-dozen structures in various states of repair. Another scattering of homesteaders can be found on farms surrounding the village, having turned some of the larger meadows into fields and leaving the stands of trees between them. The logging industry never took off, but the forest does provide villagers with ample supplies of fruits, nuts, and venison. In fact, those that live here believe that they have a simple, but fine life. With the exception of a few ships that stop to trade furs for salt, sugar, and a few luxury items once a moon or so in the summer, the outside world generally stays away from Dansbury and for most of its residents that is just the way they like it.
