We waited for morning so everyone could see and then headed with Crezlin back to his hidden cave. He made sure to hide signs of our passage. As we spoke with Crezlin it became clear he did not mind torture & that he had been unsuccessful in learning too much as did not speak their language, nor they his. He told us that Turgenak had told him and his brethren that Androids were out to destroy all other sentient life. Crezlin went to sleep. Sir Arathur, Jemaig and Vadranna left the cave to look for reeds for boat making. They did eventually find some reeds. Vadranna felt we should not trust Crezlin too closely. Sir Arathur felt the same but explained he was just watching and testing any assumptions or convictions that Crezlin told the heroes. Vadranna would like to try to speak with any enemies and hopefully clear up any misunderstandings. Jemaig felt we should just kill them. Sir Arathur felt they had just attacked us without provocation multiple times. We should just kill them. The group spoke about ways to figure out where they were and how to get a message back to Stormbreaker Cove. They eventually returned to the cave. We spent the rest of the day not doing too much other than hiding and drying reeds.
The following evening, Crezlin headed back out to scout some more in the dark. Between Sir Arathur, Vadranna and Aaron we were able to tell the direction we were from Stormbreaker Cove, but not distance, yet. We spoke about having Vadranna sending a dream message to our Captain Yosbin Fizzleboot in his submarine telling him the heading we expected we could be found on, moving at the Iron Beast's cruising speed. Later that night, Crezlin returned and quietly asked Sir Arathur to come with him. He did so. Crezlin asked if Sir Arathur could see the smaller ship in the harbor he was indicating. They discussed plans for how to distract the guards away from the portal & Crezlin explained that we should draw the guards away while he sabotaged the portal. He would then join us to help finish off the guards if needed. We then would head for the smaller ship & make our way away from the island. Crezlin also explained that there were mines in the water we needed to avoid. They talked about swimming out to move the mines manually out of the way ahead of time. It was about this time that Crezlin went to hide tracks from earlier that day that we had made while gathering reeds. Sir Arathur started heading back to the cave directly. It soon became apparent that his companions were out looking for him, judging by the brilliant light spell that could be seen from town as well. Sir Arathur quickly had them dismiss the light spell & led them back to the cave. It turned out they had realized Sir Arathur was missing & had gone looking for him. He apologized & told them about the plans he and Crezlin had worked out.
The next day we made our way stealthily to the bay. Vadranna cast Water Breathing on everyone except herself. Jemaig, Sir Arathur and Aaron swam down to see what they could find out about these underwater mines. It turned out they were chained to some sort of stone slabs on the sea bed. It was clear that there would be no moving these stone slabs. Working at the chain, we eventually broke it free. Taking it to shore Sir Arathur investigated the mine. He could tell how it worked, but not how to disable it. Aaron had the idea of attaching the chain from the mine to the anchor chain of the Iron Beast, so that when the anchor was drawn up it would trigger the mine against the hull. We did that and headed back to the cave to wait for the next day as by this time we were out of water breathing spells for the day.
The following day we headed toward the portal. We decided Aaron would fireball the area, hitting the portal, to draw the guards off of the plateau they were on. The rest of the group would then attack the guards as circumstances warranted. Of course, Aaron immediately air walked into the air and made sure that all of the guards saw him. The fight was on! While a challenging fight until we moved in close to the ranged attackers, we ultimately won the fight. Crezlin finished placing the explosives on the gate. As we ran to the water we heard and saw the explosives go off, destroying the gate behind us. We dove into the water and swam towards the small boat! Arriving there we clambered onto the boat and quickly found the control room where we expected at the rear of the boat. Vadranna cast Comprehend Languages so that Sir Arathur, Aaron & Vadranna could understand the symbols on the controls. Sir Arathur looked very excited and asked Aaron to drive the boat while he took notes to start understanding the language. Jemaig jumped into the water, swimming under the boat with ropes reaching up to the top so he could guide us around the mines.
Just then some mechanical creature pulled it's way up the stairs in the control room. Aaron was able to tell it was an Alchemical Golem. This fight quickly turned against the group. After a protracted battle the fight ended with the Golem blowing up, almost killing Sir Arathur and Jemaig.
