Time to pull the pin(s)!

by Sir Arathur Do'yle

We pulled the last of the 4 elemental pins. We heard a dull thump and went back to the door to find the door had fallen inward into a recess in the floor. We noticed that there were also 2 levers inside the the hallway past the door. After some discussion about what to do about the levers we decided to leave them alone and move on. We eventually came to several doorways in the walls. The 1st one to the south revealed a library of some sort with an Iruxi in plate armor with a very large axe . He saw us and immediately took up a somewhat defensive stance in the center of the room. He asked what our purpose here is. We explained we were there at the behest of Henzporat to investigate what was happening here & that we were looking for Voshuk, the Necromancer. He confirmed that he was the mercenary Riggtrik. He explained that we probably did not want to fight Volshuk. He asked who was our toughest warrior. We volunteered Leon. Riggtrik asked him to spar. It was not even a close fight for poor Leon... After defeating Leon, Riggtrik helped him back to his feet. He said that we would not be able to defeat Volshuk. We took his advise & approached Volshuk with respect, to talk. We found out that he had actually been creating undead to "feed" Balkvarine. When questioned, he confirmed that this was what we knew as the Intruder. He felt the undead he sent towards Henzporat was a clear enough message that they should stay away. He agreed that he would be fine with the Intruder being destroyed or driven away, but that he had no interest in helping with this. He also agreed to not send any undead towards Henzporat. If they traveled north, south or east they would be fine, but they should not come west. On the way out we collected the body of Reeza, the Iruxi woman we had killed on the way in. Krolmnite suggested we lay her to rest properly. We took our leave.
Once we made it back to Henzporat we updated Mayor Rezess on what we had found and that they should not travel to the west. She was glad we had found some more information, but wished that we had been able to defeat the menace to their west. She also revealed that Riggtrik had come to the city and was staying there for now. She was not very happy to hear that he was the one who had killed the missing Zuvan priests. We decided next to go speak with the remaining Turgenak group in town to ask if they knew any more about this Intruder, Balkvarine. They could not tell us any more, just saying that Turgenak taught them that the Intruder would keep spreading, if not stopped. We asked around and found out there was a caravan leaving in a few days, headed back to Rit Graz. Taleih spoke with the caravan master & arranged for us to act as guards on the trek back. It also turned out that Riggtrik was looking for some excitement & would be heading back towards Stormbreaker Cove as well. We offered to take him back on the Magnificent Golden Tadpole of Submergence, if Captain Fizzleboot would agree to it. Along the way we encountered a very large worm that happened to be purple. We managed to defeat it after a marginally difficult battle. After a few more days we arrived back at Rit Graz to find the re-supply ship had arrived from Stormbreaker Cove. Riggtrik looked at the Tadpole & the re-supply ship & decided to take the re-supply ship to Stormbreaker.
