We healed up over the next 20 minutes or so and continued on. We passed various corpses - both Aberrations & Iruxi. We soon encountered an injured Iruxi. She told us that Magklan had gone crazy, sprouting tentacles and attacking the rest of us his group, which she was a part of. She told us her name was Portany. Sir Arathur bandaged her wounds & she said she wound make her way back to town, since we had just cleared a path. She explained whereabouts Magklan was. We headed that way. We soon found the transforming Iruxi. It seemed confused and saw as Aberrations, muttering imprecations at us. It was accompanied by a creature type we had fought before, but we still could not tell what it was... A few seconds later a third type of creature stuck it's head out of some rafters nearby & attempted to confuse Jemaig. Thankfully, it was unsuccessful! After a bit of a protracted fight we managed to defeat them handily. We gathered up the corpses of the Iruxi patrol & headed back to find Makarn. He was obviously upset, taking his son's corpse & requesting time alone with him. We then took the rest of the corpses with us to find Portany. She confirmed this was the rest of the patrol & took them to take to their families. We then met with General Nazcan to explain what we had found. He said other patrols had disappeared as well, with many of these Aberrations appearing that looked suspiciously like some of the missing Iruxi. Makarn found us the following day, paying us the gold he had promised us, as well as the potions Makarn had on him. He also gave us a magical cloak & some other magical items. We then spent the rest of the week crafting some potions & learning what we could research about the Aberrations in the area (which was not much). Towards the end of the week word arrived that a few ships had come across the ocean, bringing help in the war against the Aberrations. The new arrivals were a race of Crocadilians named the Skarthin. We quickly found they wanted nothing to do with us, looking down their snouts at us. It turned out they worshipped a god named Ruthperl. It's portfolio seemed to be survival, adaptation and flexibility. Sterling was able to find out that these new creatures felt that after the Aberrations had been dealt with that they were going to come for us, the peoples who had come through the gate. They intended to kill us or drive us back through the gate. We decided to still go see the Dragon. Once there Sir Arathur noticed several illusions of trees nearby were hiding creatures on either side of the path. Once more Bavin, the Iruxi herald called out the accolades of Xamirith. Xamirith then appeared from nearby. When asked, he said the Iruxi hidden nearby were his minions. He said he had a 3rd option for us. He would return the gem chest, keep the books chest, remain where he was but pledge not to attack the town. He had even been killing Aberrations to keep them out of his park area. He volunteered that he had seen an especially large Aberration flying to the south. He said that he recognized it as a Neolithid. Taleih recognized the creature by name. It was some sort of large purple worm that spews acid and is immune to acid. We returned to speak with General Nazcan. We told him what had happened with the Dragon. He seemed satisfied with this solution. He then told us the leader of the Skarthin, General Draflin Strongscale, most likely planned to come after our peoples, as we had already learned. They seemed genuinely invested in helping the Iruxi, but we felt there would be problems once the Aberrations had been dealt with.
We took our leave of the General to discuss our next moves. After some back and forth we decided it would be best to still proceed with trying to remove the Aberrations from the area here. We headed south...
