Brunin found!

by Sir Arathur Do'yle

The next day we discussed how to proceed. We quickly decided we needed to move forward, hopefully retrieving Vadranna's corpse as went. Jemaig requested that he be allowed to fight the Dread Wraith without assistance from the rest of the group. The general sentiment was that we would respect his wishes, but would intervene if we felt his life was in danger. We entered and found the Dread Wraith about where we expected. Jemaig engaged it. Unfortunately, there was a new Wraith with it - the undead remains of Vadranna! Most of the rest of us engaged the Wraith, while Aaron decided to cast a Haste on Jemaig. The Dread Wraith did some heavy damage to Jemaig while the rest of us engaged the smaller Wraith. Leon used his ability to block damage between the Dread Wraith & Jemaig. He got a dirty look. Aaron then decided to blast the Dread Wraith, destroying it. Jemaig was less than impressed. Sensing that Aaron wanted to be more involved in the fight, Jemaig thoughtfully shoved the remaining Wraith over to beside Aaron. Aaron managed to move away from it, then blast it down as the rest of us had almost killed it already. There were some tense words exchanged before we gathered up Vadranna's corpse & moved on.
We soon came upon the sound of singing from beyond a closed door. Investigating, we found a Human woman, 3 Halflings & 2 Dwarves manacled to pillars. The woman was singing. We had her keep singing while Sir Arathur unlocked everyone's manacles. As he was unlocking the final manacle a large creature came walking out mumbling about being hungry. As it saw it's meals getting away it rushed to attack. We fled before it, trying to get the prisoners to safety. Once they were safe we turned to fight it, realizing that Leon, who had brought up the rear, had just been paralyzed! Sir Arathur waded back into the fight to defend Leon, sighing on his way past... He was soon joined by Dold & Jemaig. The woman we had rescued turned out to be a Bard and began helping with the fight. She was able to identify this creature as a Devourer. It began alternating attacks and spells. It proved to be a formidable spell caster, confusing Sir Arathur & feebleminding Aaaron as well as the paralyze on Leon. Part way through the fight half the party ran away. Sir Arathur, Leon and Jemaig managed to kill the creature, before joining the others. The woman, Taleih Salamed, explained she had come over with the same person who brought Leon and Dold here, the Wizard Jaaskhad Zurka. She landed in the valley nearby, where we had fought the Chimera. She explained that the Devourer had been "feeding" on the prisoners by absorbing their souls or essences. The 3 Halflings were introduced as Gerath, Ligard and Aldond.
After a night recuperating we began to explore further into the Dwarven ruin. Brunnen and his fellow Dwarf, Voldric, explained that this ruin "should not be here". We found some various coinage & a divine scroll, but not much else. We soon found a room filled with skeletal creatures. Sir Arathur identified the majority as Skeletal Champions. Taleih was able to identify the 2 different ones as Grave Knights. After a long drawn out battle we finally defeated them. It was touch and go for a while though. We chose to rest for the rest of the day before continuing on. During this time we noticed that the empty suits of Grave Knight armor were re-growing flesh. After some more investigation we decided to seal them inside the forges, as we could not find a way to destroy them. The next day we awoke refreshed. We planned to continue on, backtracking to the T-junction we had recently passed.
