Staring at my reflection of the mirror is something I do daily; but today was different than usual. Usually, I would look in the mirror to see how tired I appear—I can say that my appearance is not that bad, but I still think there is a lot to be done to improve it.

Wearing a new set of clothes; black sweatshirt with a necklace as my new pocket watch, blue formal pants and black shoes, time has really flown by like an arrow.

It has been what, six years? So many things have changed to count. A lot of things have happened to everyone, myself included. Though, the most important thing is that we are all alive and here with each other.

“I need to stop overthinking everything,” with that said, I calmly head downstairs to the kitchen, the sweet aroma of Eve’s cooking filled the house. She is preparing lunch; scrambled eggs and steak, and hot rice mixed with some black pepper.

As I enter the kitchen and sit down, Eve glances up and smiles.

“Good morning, Adam,” her voice more lively than ever before. Ever since she started being a professional cook when we moved here, it is a complete turnaround from when we first met. The dark, gloomy atmosphere of our past life and memories were gone, replaced with the lightness of life now.

She is happier and different; more open to people’s feelings and words. As if she had found who she really wanted to be.

And that made me smile of how the person she wanted to be. Before, it was like a mask—something she needed to be to survive. Now, it is a genuine change. She has become human. A true, independent person who can stand on her feet without leaning on someone.

“Morning hon,” I reply and took out a bottle of water to drink. The joy and warmth of knowing that someone is there for me, to give me strength, “how is Clover and Skoll doing?” Asking this; because I feel that it is the least I can do for them.

With that question, Eve turned away from the stove, approaching towards me before placing her front upper body on a nearby table, “Skoll is hunting in the woods like usual, Clover is outside with our daughter,” she happily answered. Her eyes are sparkling with the thought of her family.

It makes me happy too. Seeing that we have been able to adapt to the world is proof that everything will be fine, “ah, that is good then. I’ll check on them,” walking to the door leading outside, I was stopped when she grabbed my arm suddenly.

In a panic, I retreat my whole arm away, quickly spun in motion, “Eve?!” Confusion and surprise were evident on my face. Realization hit her beautiful visage, sighing in deep sorrow before apologizing on her own behalf, “I’m sorry my love. It is just that I keep forgetting that you are still uncomfortable being touched by other women…”

Eve’s guilty expression says it all, and as a result; I nodded in sympathy, “I know, I still have this phobia for some reason. But we still have to try and move onward, right sweetheart?” The memory of that venomous woman still haunts me to this day.

With a wide smile and eyes closed, her angelic display warmed my worries, “I see, take care of yourself out there!” Eve cheerfully said and gave me a quick kiss before heading back to the kitchen.

Although, it was all sudden, I could not help but ignore the dreadful feelings of being touched. However, the quick peck of her lips, especially with the woman I loved so much, had somehow quelled the darkness inside of me; and I smiled.

As I exited the house, the chill morning air bit my skin. Quickly rubbing my hands together, the familiar sounds of my daughter happily playing the game of throwing snowballs with Clover had made me gave short laugh of amusement.

My laughter was seemingly loud enough to catch their full attention, causing the two to stop immediately, “father!” Lilim exclaimed with happiness and excitement, rushing towards me, arms opened as she hugged me tight.

I hugged her back, throughout the years of reforming my daughter…I managed to bring out the light from within her. She is a kinder and mature person, unlike the child-like and uninhibited girl that I found her years ago. “How is yer going?” Clover walked towards us, waving at me with a warm smile; which made me chuckle.

Finishing our embrace, I looked to the little leprechaun with a grin, “I’m doing fine, actually. So what are you two doing out here, other than throwing snowballs?” I inquired of the pair. They both came to stand next to each other.

Clover chuckled, looking at the two of them, “aside from throwing snowballs lad? We also built a snowman…but ah, it is not perfect,” a nervous sweat appeared on his brow.

Lilim giggled, “its okay uncle Clover. Its not like you will be able to eat it anyway,” her response irritated him, causing the leprechaun to flinch, his cheeks slightly red.

“Come on, missy! I ain’t a fat dwarf,” he responded with mock indignation, “so don’t be telling me to eat my own creation,” Clover shook his head and rolled his eyes. His playful banter with the young girl was adorable even though he is over hundreds of years in age.

My daughter and I laughed, resulting him to grow red in embarrassment, “er…why you two! Ugh, I will leave you two here then,” he slowly walked away to the house; leaving us alone.

Lilim and I watched as the little leprechaun entered the door of the house. There were a few seconds of silence between the two of us. Finally, my daughter broke the quiet, “do you want to check the snowman with me, father?” She asked with eagerness. Without hesitation or further delay, I nodded my head. Taking hold of her hand, Lilim led me to where the unfinished snowmen stood. It was nothing more than a small mound of snow and ice, with a stick placed on top.

Removing my hand from her, I knelt down near it and carefully analyze the creation with frown, “atleast you both did your best. It is not like it could be perfect but this is still something,” hoping my answer would not bring her down.

“Father, we can try again and fix it up; maybe make it better,” Lilim offered with hopeful look at my side, her fingers gently touched the surface of the snowman, causing it to melt from the heat of her touch.

Standing up with a smile, I accepted her advice, “sure, let’s build our snowman,” happily saying to my child. She smiled widely and began building another snowman, causing me to help her. After a few minutes of hard work and effort, we completed our snowman.

Aside from using a stick as nose, the creation was near perfect to say the least. It is form is a masterpiece, although we did not have carrot or olives to complete the set; it was a work of art nonetheless.

Suffice to say, we were thrilled to be able to create this great work of art together.

“Oh man…we forgot the other accessories for the eyes and buttons,” Lilim woefully admitted, disappointed she did not think about it before creating the body of the snowman. I chuckled to myself and grabbed a handful of snow from the ground. Using the wet snow, I created two round eyes, and drew out two dots of ice on the cheeks, “how about these instead,” jokingly speaking to her.

Lilim rolled her eyes before grabbing piece of snow from the ground with her hands, crushing it into ball as she threw it at me. However, thanks to my instincts; I easily dodged it without having to do by consciousness thinking.

“You missed,” I smirked with a hint of smugness, knowing it would not hit me.

Not to mention, I knew that if it was not for my gut feeling, then the snowball would have definitely landed on my face. Though, this was not enough for Lilim to give up so easily, and she kept trying to throw snowballs at me.

But I am not going to keep letting her throw the snowballs like that. With speed and grace that can rival any cat, I caught the snowball that was thrown towards me in midair, however it was merely luck.

“Woah! You caught it!” She said, amazed, which caused me to chuckle in amusement. My daughter was too young to realize that I am more than just a plain ordinary father of hers.”You can say that,” throwing the snowball with all my strength, I know from first hand that the moment I did that; she easily dodged by moving to the side because of her unnatural speed and reflexes, also that she could have ducked or run away from the projectile.

We continued playing like this for several minutes, creating more snowballs to throw at each other in hopes of winning this silly game of ours. The snowball fight ended when I felt exhausted to the point that I could barely have the energy to dodge, admitting defeat when a snowball of hers had managed to hit me on the face, causing me to drop myself on the ground.

“Yes! I won!” Lilim cheered, happily jumping up and down. Her joyous laughter made me feel happy; even though I lost in the end. But all of these does not matter since she still has the will to play games like this. It is something I used to enjoy doing back in my youth.

Getting up and using my hands to remove the fragments of snow on my clothes, I suddenly sense the approaching presence of someone I recognize, resulting me to turn and look for the source.

“It’s Skoll!” Lilim pointed at the werewolf, moving toward us from behind the snow-covered hill of the woods. He is dragging a corpse of…mutilated wild animal of some kind that resembles the appearance of a bear and lion; like a mix between the two.

When he is close enough, Skoll raised his head up before a wide grin spread across his wolf-like face, “it’s you two, finally.” His voice is deep as ever but filled with glee. As for the mutilated body he is dragging, it is hard to tell if the thing is a mutant or new species. He turn his eyes to my daughter, rising his hand for fist bump, “how ya been, kid?” Skoll asks with his usual casual attitude. He then turns to me with the same expression.

Lilim approached before giving him a fist bump, “I’m doing great! How is your hunt?” She curiously asked; perhaps curious about what he done outside in the wilderness.

“Not bad,” he replied, letting go of the corpse, “say human, want to help me cut this beast apart into pieces?” He asked with an excited smile.

To be honest, it was not like I really care to see the results of his hunt but this is not the time to show that.

Lilim gave me a sidelong glance but answered with enthusiasm, “sure thing! What about you dad? Do you want to help with us?” They turn to me, awaiting my answer. I was still hesitating; thinking if it is worth the effort for me.

“why the hell not?”

Satisfied with my answer, Skoll conjured icy axe before throwing it at me, safely catching it in the nick of time. When the moment I held it, the weapon and I fell on the ground; feeling the weight of it’s axe.

“Damn! This weapon of yours is heavy,” I commented. Skoll let out a snicker as he looked like he is trying to keep from laughing out loud, “I figured that might be the case. Don’t worry about it too much, you will get used to it,” he said with a smug expression.

She asked, “what about me? Do I also get your cool axes?” The girl inquired, being intrigued to tryout in holding one of his weapons.

The werewolf simply scoffed at her attempt, “you have the strength enough to tear a grown man apart with your bare hands. You don’t need a weapon, girl,” his tone was condescending; like he is talking down to children.

She crossed her arms, pouting, “whatever, fine then. I’ll just used my hands,” Lilim exclaimed in defeat. Her eyes shimmering with excitement of testing her own strength.Listening to their conversation, I noticed one important part in their talk; I do not have to do the heavy work of cutting this corpse into pieces.
