Shadowfire WAWA 2025 submissions

I had a relatively quiet year this year, and i wasn't able to participate much in Sumemrcamp or Worldember. My big effort early on was in Adventure April where I put together my biggest article to date for the Mirrorshield Heist.
I picked my favourite articles completed over the year for consideration, and even though most are not that extensive, I am quite happy with these.

Hearts and minds

The article on salt plum dumplings was completed for the Summer Camp prompt "A tradition that gives comfort". Its a small detail for the warlords of Ardi-kokufa that draws from the harsh environments where they live, and also provide a bit of a softer detail for their culture.

Rise of nations

I'd been wanting to explore more of the history of the Protectorates from their time in Refuge, and how that experience transformed the survivors of Destruction into the dogmatic zealots they became. The prompt for Summer Camp "A conflict that involved a changing environment" helped me explore the metaphysical jostlings that were triggered by the experience of living within Refuge with such limited space and resources.

Wondrous nature

The Elder Gods are the creators of the world of Shadowfire, and their cosmic hunger is what has driven so much of the evolution of magic and culture down the ages. I hadn't focussed on them much, and Worldember was the chance to try it.

Best world building article

This was my entry for Adventure April, and the climax of the First Act of my ongoing campaign design for Talons Rising. I put a heap of effort into this one, and very happy for how it turned out.

Pillars of progress

Another entry from Summar Camp, for the prompt "A vehicle that, when introduced, caused social upheaval." This explores the technology of the sentient craft that enabled the moon landing that ushered in the Age of Ascendancy.

Myths and legends

For the Summer Camp prompt "A myth about food", I wrote the myth that comes from the time in Refuge that the Rivalry of Masks occured. It is as much a children's fable as a source of propoganda, and the source of modern day fetivals.

My global map for Shadowfire is also up for consideration. This was hand-drawn then scanned in and manipulated a fair bit using illustrator and photoshop. Since then I have added a couple of layers for the various labels and points of interest. Please consider for your vote!

Welcome traveller, to the world of Shadowfire. This is a land of extremes, where an ancient cataclysm caused time itself to stop. Now, the sun never sets, bathing one side in fire, while the other freezes in eternal night. In between there is a band of twilight where many struggle to survive and thrive. This map shows the places of the world, and the stories that have been told within it. Use the layers in the rop-right of the map to show and hide the different article locations within the world.
