Camp Hope

Finding the Cure

In the aftermath of humanity's collapse, as chaos and despair reigned, a new societal structure began to take shape amidst the ruins. Among the rebuilding efforts, a religious camp emerged, purporting to restore order through a narrow interpretation of Christian doctrine. This camp, however, was founded on exclusionary principles and bigotry, positioning itself as a beacon of salvation while imposing rigid and intolerant views on its inhabitants. As people sought refuge and purpose, they were drawn into a system that promised redemption but demanded conformity and vilified those who did not adhere to its narrow beliefs. While this camp provided a semblance of stability, it also perpetuated a cycle of division and intolerance, contrasting sharply with the ideals of compassion and unity that might have otherwise guided the reconstruction of society. In this environment, the rebuilding of the world was marred by the very prejudices that had once contributed to its downfall, revealing the complex interplay between faith, power, and human nature in the quest for renewal.

Diplomacy

Demographics

This camp accepts Others and Awakened, they make up about 25% of the population. They do not allow Zombies to live on the property as a general rule. With the proper permits, a doctor can keep a single living Zombie as a test subject. However, they generally use samples or kadavars for their research rather then taking the risk of having a Zombie in the camp. There are also automatons living in the camp. They make up about 1% of the population. They generally keep to themselves, staying in the power building unless they are needed elsewhere.

Government

The High Chairman is the ruler of the camp with 4 Chairmen that serve as advisers. These are always people who have been educated in the medical arts in some fashion and thus can serve to guide the camp towards achieving their goal of finding the cure.

Defences

There is a stone wall around the perimeter of the camp. The wall is always manned to prevent it from being scaled. The only way into the camp is through the parking access which is heavily gaurded.

Industry & Trade

Export

  • Medicine and cybernetics are their primary export items.
  • There are times that they have a surplus of food that will be traded.
  • Power cells are also traded, but this is usually just a recharging service.

Import

  • They are always looking for Zombie and Other samples to further their research.
  • They pay for sacavangers to collect old technology from the city
  • Meat and hides
  • Medical Books. Text books are especially valuable.

Infrastructure

The Main Hospital building is powered by the nucluar generator attached to the hospital and maintained by the automatons. The surrounding buildings enjoy power through battery packs that are rationed out as part of the camp's payment for service. These battery packs can be used to run any number of electric devices such as lights, computers or radios.

Districts

Medical District

This is a triangular section of the camp that includes the hospital building, the power building, the small office buildings next to the hospital and the two parking garages that are outside the wall.

Housing District

This section of the camp is where most people live. There are apartment buildings and hotels that have been renovated to house those now living in the camp.

Business District

This is where the businesses and government buildings are.

The Farm

This is where they grow crops and raise chickens. They keep about 4,000 hens and 400 roosters. They are kept in flocks of 11 with 10 hens and 1 rooster each flock. They are raised for the purpose of farming eggs rather then chicken meat. When a hen's egg laying capacity declines, they kill that chicken for its meat. They also grow a variety of crops. They have converted buildings to accomidate storage next to the gardens. They keep general supplies here as well as the surplus food stock. The farmers live in the housing next to the garden. This is considered part of the farm.

Farm Housing

This is a second housing district where the farmers live.

Farming District

This area includes storage buildings where food and farming supplies are kept.

Church District

This is where the church and the church buildings are. There is a small housing are for those who serve the church. However, most of those serving the church live in the housing district.

Assets

They have a fully functional medical facility. It is limited by what is available for medical supplies and by the knowledge of the current doctors working there. They have a farm that is able to support those living in the camp. Medicine and cybernetics are their most valuable commodities as they are not generally available elsewhere. Within the Hospital district, there is the New Medical Library. Every medical text that has been found has been added to this library and copies have been made to ensure the survival of the knowledge.

Google Map

You step into the camp through the heavily guarded parking access, a checkpoint that feels more like a fortress than an entrance. The walls surrounding the settlement rise high, a grim reminder of the dangers lurking beyond. Inside, the air buzzes with a strange mixture of hope and tension. The Medical District looms ahead, dominated by the hospital—a hulking structure powered by a nuclear generator, its lights an unrelenting beacon in the post-collapse darkness. Automatons glide through the area with eerie precision, maintaining the power systems and vanishing into the sterile confines of the power building. The smell of antiseptic is sharp here, mingling with the faint metallic tang of cybernetics in progress.
