Board of Hope

The Board of Hope stands as the central governing body of Camp Hope, entrusted with preserving the camp’s mission and fostering its community’s well-being. Comprising four Chairmen, the Board plays a vital role in ensuring stability and continuity within the camp. Each Chairman serves a lifelong term, having earned their place through rigorous qualifications, including advanced education and experience as a Doctor at Camp Hope. Beyond their primary duty of upholding the camp’s purpose of pursuing The Cure, they assist the High Chairman in overseeing operations and managing special initiatives. Driven by a commitment to the camp’s moral and emotional welfare, the Board is both a guiding force in governance and a symbol of hope amidst the camp's challenges.

Structure

There are 4 Chairmen of the Board at any time. In order for them to qualify for this position, they must be 40 years old, have earned a doctorate at Camp Hope and served as a Doctor there for at least 2 years. This is a life term. When the position opens at the time of a Chairman's death or promotion to High Chairman, there is a vote by the general public to replace the Chairman. Any adult who is qualified is posted as a potential canidate by the Chairmen of the Board of Hope. Those canidates then have 7 days to accept or decline running for office. Those who accept then have 1 month to present their position to the camp in a series of public discussion events. After that, the public vote is held and counted by the Chairmen. The votes are then publicly counted by the librarian and their assistants.

Benefits

They are paid monthly credits for their services to the camp. These credits are enough to cover the costs of room and board but little else. Because of this, the High Chairman often performs other tasks within the camp that provides them credits. This is usually services or teaching within the Doctor role.

Public Agenda

Their purpose is to ensure that Camp Hope's primary mission, The Cure, is never forgotten.

Responsibilities

It is also their resposibility to assist the High Chairman with the running of the camp. This means accepting any delegated tasks or running any special projects appointed to them by the Chairman. It is also their responsibility to ensure that the Chairman is fit to rule and if at any time the Chairman is no longer fit to rule it is their duty to bring that fact to the people.

Duties

They are considered to have the moral obligation to maintain the emotional well being of the people. It is considered good leadership to ensure that they people are enduring the hardships of the world well.
