Scribner's Academy

Admissions

Children are chosen to enter the school based upon their interests and their demonstrated skill sets. They are allowed to take the entrance exam at age 10. There is no age limit to how old a person can be when the enter the academy, but most students begin their education process by the time they are 12. Generally, the parents are required to pay for the child's education. However, there are a few gifted children that are given scholarships by the school.

Family Tradition

Since there is an expectation that the school will only accept the children with the highest potential, many Scribes will home school their children in an effort to prepare them for the entrance exam. This has created a tradition of Scribes raising their children with their education as a primary goal. Because of this, there are several families with in Camp Hope that have become known as Scribe families.

Purpose / Function

This school is where The Scribes are taught the skills that are required for maintaining the books. They are brought into the school while young. They are first taught the basics such as reading and writing. They are taught how to preserve and restore old texts. This is considered the most important skill of a Scribe.

History

With the establishment of New Medical Library in 16SE, it was understood that they would need to teach people to care for the books that were being saved. Additionally, to make the collection accessible to everyone, there needed to be those who were capable of copying the books.
