Handy Andy
Andy (a.k.a. Handy Andy)
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Handy Andy was rebuilt to resemble a human, but there’s something off about him. His movements are too precise, his expressions just a fraction too slow, and his synthetic skin, though expertly crafted, lacks the warmth and natural imperfections of real flesh. His eyes are eerily perfect—too symmetrical, too reflective—like polished glass. When he speaks, his voice is clear and modulated, yet there’s an artificial undertone that makes it unsettling. Those who don’t know he’s an automaton may not realize at first, but the longer they interact with him, the more the uncanny valley effect sets in. His clothes, his posture, even the way he tilts his head feel rehearsed, like someone mimicking humanity rather than living it. Despite this, Andy does his best to blend in, though whether the world will ever fully accept him remains to be seen.

Personal history
A Debt to Pay ($20,000)
Andy’s reconstruction was costly. The components required to restore him weren’t readily available, forcing Elias and Marla to pull favors, raid scrap yards, and strike dubious deals. While they don’t ask for repayment, Andy has taken this debt upon himself, determined to earn enough through his work to pay it back, even if it means taking on dangerous jobs.
Relationships
History
Professor Delores Sylvia Jackson, a former academic turned field engineer, took an interest in Andy’s mechanical mind. Though Andy initially attended her lectures out of obligation, the lessons sparked something akin to curiosity. Even after the courses ended, the two remained in contact, exchanging knowledge about engineering, human behavior, and philosophy.
History
Among the engineers, Grant Velasco is Andy’s closest colleague. Working side by side in the shop, they’ve spent countless hours fine-tuning weapons, vehicles, and other equipment. Grant treats Andy like any other worker, there’s an unspoken camaraderie between them.
History
Years ago, Juniper “June” Ralston, a scavenger-turned-mechanic, did Andy a favor—salvaging an essential component for repairing critical damage to one of Andy's systems. The favor has long since been repaid, but the two share a mutual appreciation for obscure engineering marvels and old-world tech.
History
Andy met David Laurids Prinz, a Town Watch recruit, while working on David’s truck. What started as a simple repair job became a friendship, with David regularly seeking Andy’s expertise on weapons and equipment maintenance.
History
Clara Schnell, a young engineer, became enamored with Andy, drawn to the mystery and uniqueness of an automaton who could speak, think, and work like a human. Though Andy tried to understand and reciprocate, he ultimately lacked the capacity for love. When Sienna realized he would never return her feelings, it ended badly—her rejection tinged with resentment.
History
Florrie Tawnee Lehmann, an engineering apprentice, works in the same workshop where Andy was restored. She doesn’t talk much, which suits Andy fine, but her technical skill and quiet presence make for a reliable working partner.
History
Victor Langley, an ambitious and ruthless engineer, sees Andy as a mystery waiting to be dissected. Believing that studying Andy’s systems could lead to advancements in robotics, Victor is determined to take him apart—whether Andy consents or not.
History
Andy has met someone who sees him as more than just a machine. Sandra Bradshaw understands his nature and, rather than forcing human expectations onto him, simply values him for who he is. Whether Andy is capable of love remains uncertain, but if he were, this might be the person who could show him how. Sandra is a member of the Farmer's Guild and only comes by the Engineers' workshop to see Andy.
History
Dr. Harlan Grieves, a rogue inventor known for pushing technological boundaries, conducted an experimental procedure on Andy, modifying his internal systems. As a result, Andy no longer requires oxygen for twice his Constitution modifier in minutes, a function that has saved him more than once in dangerous conditions. That being said, Andy still doesn't know how he feels about Dr. Grieves deciding to tinker with his systems while he was undergoing routine mantience. Andy thinks that he should be asked for consent before his body is modified, but he isn't human so he doesn't have this legal right.
