Personal history
Born and raised in Camp Hope, he grew up believing in the mission of the Doctors—to study the virus and, ultimately, to find a cure. As an only child, his life had its ups and downs, but he had nothing to complain about until he was eight years old.
That was when his world changed. His mother was a Tuner, and when her abilities were discovered, she was imprisoned as a research subject. He never saw her again after that. She refused to accept her fate and attempted to escape the camp, unwilling to become an experiment. In response, she was killed.
From that moment on, he devoted himself to medicine and research, believing wholeheartedly in the Doctors’ work. He wanted to be the one to help find a cure so that others wouldn’t have to suffer the same fate as his mother. But when he turned 19, his own powers awakened.
It was a cruel twist of fate. The very thing he hated and feared was now part of him. He knew the law—within Camp Hope, it was illegal to use the Dark without research approval. He had always believed in the Doctors' work, had worked toward becoming a medical student, and had dreamed of contributing to the cure. But if he followed protocol and turned himself in, he would no longer be a student. No longer a researcher. He would become a test subject instead. That was unacceptable.
Instead of surrendering, he made a different choice—to use his condition to further his own research. He began secretly experimenting on himself, carefully documenting his findings. He has never revealed the true source of the blood and tissue samples he submits for study, keeping his secret well-guarded. Through his research, he has even managed to improve his own resilience, strengthening his constistitution beyond what it once was.
Criminal Record
At 21, he was imprisoned for 11 months for committing medical fraud—a crime that, ironically, had nothing to do with his secret research. He had forged approval signatures for research materials that he wasn’t supposed to have access to, bypassing bureaucratic restrictions. He had done it in pursuit of knowledge, not for profit, but the Doctors do not tolerate unauthorized experimentation. While his time in confinement was difficult, he emerged with his ambitions intact, even more determined to change the world through research—his way.
Status and Reputation
Despite his incarceration, his intelligence and potential earned him a second chance. He returned to his studies and has since gained student status within the Doctors. His sharp mind and promising future have granted him authority and influence over others, making him someone to be respected—and feared. He has a natural ability to intimidate those beneath him, and he knows how to wield his reputation wisely.
Recognizing his brilliance, he was awarded an educational grant, which he used to further his knowledge of the sciences and to learn Spanish.
Eugenia Katie Seaver – From Mentor to Enemy
One of the most influential figures in his academic life was Eugenia Katie Seaver, his science instructor. She recognized his potential early on and took him under her wing, guiding him through his studies. Over time, their relationship shifted from teacher and student to genuine friendship, built on a mutual passion for science.
But that friendship shattered when Eugenia began to suspect him of conducting unethical research. She didn’t know the full truth, but she had questions he couldn’t answer—why he had access to certain materials, where he was getting his samples, why he was so secretive about his work. She confronted him, and when he refused to explain, she saw it as a betrayal of everything she had taught him.
Now, they are bitter enemies. She believes he is hiding something dangerous, and if she ever finds proof, she will bring him down.
An Enemy in the Ranks – Vincent Orlan
Not all of his conflicts are born of suspicion—some are driven by resentment. Vincent Orlan, another student within the Doctors, has long held a grudge against him. Vincent is intelligent but not exceptional, always outshined by his rival. He worked hard to earn his place, but no matter what he did, he was always seen as second-best.
He despises the way others gravitate toward him, respects him, even fear him. Worse, he can’t shake the feeling that his rival isn’t playing fair, that he has some secret advantage—something that has helped him rise so quickly. Vincent is determined to expose him, whether through sabotage, manipulation, or outright confrontation.
Secret Recovery
At one point, he developed a limp, an injury that could have permanently hindered him. But through his own secret research, he managed to heal himself, proving that his self-experimentation was already yielding tangible results.
Current Conflict
He remains trapped in a delicate balance, walking a fine line between brilliance and secrecy. If his secret ever gets out, everything he has built will crumble—his future, his research, and his freedom. But as long as he can keep his Tuner nature hidden, he will continue pushing the boundaries of science, no matter the cost.
