Four floors of clothing, appliances, furniture, books, toys, tools, bedding, etc. Gleason's offers prices somewhat lower than other New Jerusalem merchants in exchange for less-personal service. The company owns a large delivery truck and a smaller van.
Marjorie Lilibridge works as a clerk at Gleason’s Department Store in New Jerusalem in the ladies’ section of the clothing department. It’s a job that she doesn’t find that exciting or challenging to do, and she’s sure she could do something better; the problem is she doesn't know exactly what. Marjorie is always interested in what other businesses people might be setting up that she could work for, and she keeps an ear open to find out what’s available. This does result in her overhearing things that people would probably have preferred remain private.
