Skylandia Capitol (old being revamped)

Written by Pookas Kreations

This is the capital of the Skylands. The majority of the inhabitants are Sky Gnomes. They have a magic/clockwork/steam-based society.

Demographics

Sky Gnomes are the majority of the inhabitants but there are others in lesser numbers. These include, but are not limited to:
  • Elves
  • Halfling
  • Icarans
  • Fey
  • Animalfolk
Various other races visit for a short time, like for schooling or to get custom work done.

Government

Skylandia's government is a combination of an Oligarchy and Meritocracy balanced with a Demarchy.

Defences

Their main defense is their location high in the sky, but they have also created skystone generators that can create magical shields.

Industry & Trade

The islands stay afloat by a magical gravitic effect. The majority of the Sky Gnomes are mechanists, alchemists, engineers, etc. Any kind of machine, gadget, or other useful object is exported; but most are sealed against tampering and need to be returned for repairs.

Infrastructure

Sky Gnomes are very inventive especially with machinery. They recycle everything, anything that can be reused is, down to its minute components. They have created Skystones, skystone generators, skystone shields; skyships, mecha, robots, automated workshops and factories, etc.

Assets

One of their main assets is skystones and lightwood, but they have various others buried in their islands. Both of wood and animal form. Whatever they make is always in high demand because of their craftsmanship.

Guilds and Factions

Guilds are businesses based on a specific type of discipline like Mechanists. There are as many types of guilds as there are disciplines, and more are created as needed. The Guildmaster is the head/CEO of this business.

Houses are underneath a guild (but not always) and are usually under the same discipline or sub-specialty as the guild. They are controlled by a Headmaster and the Guildmaster of the Guild that they are linked to. Many houses were created to get away from overbearing guildmasters that didn't allow new ideas in his Guild. c

Circles are like think tanks and are similar to Houses for non-technological disciplines. Any citizen can join one, but the most intelligent ones can make a the most of their membership in one. Their motto is anyone can make a difference.

History

Skylandia was the mountain that the Tree Gnomes were scouting for a new settlement. When the Wild Magic storm hit that caused the gravitic effect during the Chaos Wars. The Gnomes that survived became the first Sky Gnomes and eventually spread to the other Islands that lifted up with the first. It took many years to create the first skyships to explore their new land as the technology didn't yet exist.

Architecture

A combination of all available material was used in the original settlement, in the present day composites are often used so precious resources aren't used needlessly.

Geography

Skylandia was originally a large mountain that was pulled up from its root by the original gravitic effect during the Chaos Wars. There is a

Natural Resources
