Ballantyne Wyspa

This is a floating island in the Skylands Continent.  It used to be uninhabited but during the testing of a new airship, the island was discovered. The Swift Familys decided to claim it for their own.

Geography

In the Skylands Continent the islands are in constant flux, they don't have fixed orbits. So the distances involved are not the same day to day. Ballantyne Wyspa has a slightly faster rotation than Skylandia Island. Most of the time it is quite a distance from the capital. 

The terrain of the island is mostly flat, with some foothills around the edges, there is a small lake in the center and streams leading out of it. 

Fauna & Flora

Animals and plants had to be imported to improve their native habitat.

Natural Resources

The island is rich in minerals, rare elements, and gems. Trees and many plants had to be imported to improve the island and limit the wind.

History

They built the family headquarters here, then built up the infrastructure to start housing for the workers' families to move here as well. When they first moved there is was mostly inhospitable, without much arable land, It was rocky scrubland, and they had to improve the soil, and create soil in many places. Which is probably one reason there were no inhabitants.

Over the years they worked on one section at a time and eventually they improved it enough for more people to be able to survive. Immigration was slowly opened, but only for those with merit. Laborers, tradesmen, and other needed workers, anyone to help build the island up.
