Teranik Flora and Fauna

To most its a barren, inhospitable wasteland. On the majority of the surface, it is, but there is a vast network of tunnels below it. Beneath the surface, some life has survived from before the Chaos Wars, but they are few and far between. Before the corruption became too great, most of these left.

Fauna & Flora

When the shadowlands and various other Planes touch here occasionally. Creatures have crossed over and the Planes influence the land just by being so close. This has caused mutations, cross-breeding, an upheaval of the food chain, and the environment. Evolution here has gone into overdrive to find forms to fit the unusual niches. Similar to other extreme environments like volcanic vents, and corrosive pools of liquid. The toxic environment and harsh conditions don’t allow for weak species, some appear so, but have hidden strengths such as magic, poison, and psionics. Mutants and insects abound as well as shadow and elemental creatures. There are just as many weird and dangerous plants as there are animals. Most of these are carnivorous. They attract prey with various ways, from light, scent, taste, to magic, and/or psionics. Some even actively hunt, trap, or grab from ambush. Many creatures also came over from the various Planes that have intersected this continent. Various shadow, elemental, and other types of creatures have passed through the portals. As well as corrupted the native creatures.

Where the various Planes have touch, you can visibly see the corruption caused by this foreign influence. Most of the portals appear randomly and few appear in the same place twice. Sometimes these doors are one way other times they go both directions or are just a window. The doors can also be different sizes, from diminutive to gargantuan and rarely colossal.
