Mori

Welcome to Solaris, traveller! This is a slower-than-light science fantasy set in our own solar system.
About Solaris | Guide to Solaris | Prologue
The former denizens of the Sunscrapers, the Mori, suffer a collective trauma after the loss of their home planet. With the Scorching of Mercury most Mori have become refugees. Thanks to the immense wealth of Mori dynasties like the Atlas, Duponchelias, and more, most Mori have been able to secure housing and a new life.

Physiology

The Mori hail from the colder polar regions of Mercury. While they are no less insectoid than the Kara, they are soft and delicate where their bretheren is strong and resilient. They lack the thick keratinous plates the Kara are known for, and tend to have softer and more featherlike antennae. The Mori are also known for their plush manes, thick fur that grows around their necks and sometimes extends down their torso as well. These manes helped them stay warm in the polar climate.   Their fingers are segmented with a hard outer shell rather than an inner bone structure. Like Kara, Mori hands experience touch through the small feelers that extend from each joint. Touching hands is quite intimate among Mercurians, both culturally and because of these physiological differences.
