Goals

I hope to finish 30 prompts yet again this year, securing the Diamond badge and hopefully crack the 100k worldbuilding words on Cathrea (currently around 81.5k, meaning an average of 600 words per article). Additionally, if I have some more time, I'd love to work on some optional prompts for my second world in the making, Ignotas.

Preparation, Week 1: Power

Powerdynamics

The power dynamics on Cathrea are well distributed along the following four pillars: the Noble houses, the Church, the Market and Science. Now there are no overarching world-organizations yet, but this will change throughout Summercamp, focusing primarily on religion and science. The goal is to build the final foundation to bring a new age of magicks.

I've been holding off on creating an in-depth academic system and its influence, though the outlines were already completed about 2 years ago. Additionally, the researchers, scientists and priests of Cathrea will get some special attention, tied tightly with the school system I have in mind.

My Meta Ambitions

I started this world as a side project and to have a creative outlet (while also not getting rusty in my english). I primarily focused on just throwing random ideas against the walls in hopes they stick. In hindsight, I also feel like my Meta was not restricting enough, resulting in a more or less "lawless" place.

Meta Changes

During the Preparations for SC2023 I will revise my Meta Article, add concrete boundaries and build upon these new rules. Once Summercamp is over, I will use my time to go back over my published articles and give them a general overhaul according to the new Meta.

Preparation, Week 2: Frontier

About Ignotas

After reading through the week 2 theme, I got really excited. I have just started working on a second world outside of Cathrea named Ignotas where, as luck would have it, the central theme is an unknown frontier. It is a foggy wall, leaving the inhabitable world small and compact. Raids beyond the fog and the thirst for knowledge of the unknown is what drives this civilization. I guess what I want to say is, that I am very excited for the week 2 theme.

Cathreas Frontiers

Not only Ignitas has clear cut frontiers to speak about. Aside from the on-the-nose-barriers, like the Anomaly Abyss, better called the Pit, where we have an unknowingly deep hole (very inspired by Made in Abyss if you couldn't tell), I have started incorporating more technological advancements in my world. The Roxikyens Inventures are on the frontier of merging magic with technology, and are actively working on a breakthrough.

Aspirations

I think after accomplishing my article revisions, I will have a very clean and solid base to stand on for Cathrea to explore these frontiers. Be it more cute yet deadly critters, unknown lands beneath the Pit, or entering an age of arcanum supported by technology entirely. It should be fun.
