New Beginnings & New Disasters

Elemental Flux Overload, or EFO in short, is one of the first Lumitek disasters that came from developing a Lumicite storage orb. These so called Lumicells would be a cornerstone for understanding and developing Lumitek in the future, though their upcoming was anything but disasterless.

Overconfidence and Missing Knowledge

Elemental Flux Overload was first discovered by Baldemir Lohrk and the Roxikyen Inventures, as they wanted to find a way to store magic inside orbs which, on the contrary to raw Lumicite, can be touched. Research was rocky from start to finish, as detailled in the Research Logbook. The one major error was made while accidentally leaving two differently charged Lumicite ores touching, bleeding two different elemental Magicule types into each other. The magic fused and ruptured, causing an explosion the size of a goblin, which wouldn't have been too devastating on its own, weren't there half a dozen more crystals in the explosions range.

Melding Magic

While Magic Melding has been around for some time, in Alchemy for example, no one knew that this carefully mastered craft that was perfected over millenia, wasn't dangerous in undiscovered, unknown mineral form. After the incident, the researchers convened with some of the best alchemists in the kingdom and studied the Elemental Overload in a controlled environment. What caused the mixing to "go wrong", seemed to have stemmed, not from the inability to mix entirely, but the speed at which the mixing happened. The quickened overload and the difference in elements was too much for the crystals to handle. Baldemir and the others theorized that, if the melding was done slowly and more controlled in a container temporarily more durable than Lumicite, Lumicells of more than just the eight primal attributes could be be possible.

Lumicite can only hold one attribute of magic at a time, so much is fact. Though no one said that that one attribute can not be one more complex than a primary one.
