Creative Goals

Expanding and Filling Gaps

For Summer Camp 2022, I will continue to work in my main world, Valayo, a world where each nation has its own understanding of and approach to magic.

Creative Writing

I hope to focus on story snippets, flash fiction, in-world quotes, poems, and other ways to bring creative touches to articles.

Challenge Goals

Goal: complete 8 prompts

Preferred: complete 16 prompts

Stretch Goal: complete 24 prompts

Super Stretch: complete 31 prompts


Writing Goal: 500 words + per article

Reading Goal: to read as possible, but to not become overwhelmed

Motivation

My motivation for Summer Camp is to expand my worldbuilding such that I have a richer, fuller world in which to build my stories. I intend for these articles to one day act as supplemental material for many novels and stories set in various parts of the world.

Prompt Themes

Prompts for Summer Camp 2022 will be related to four themes: expanse, leadership, discovery, and monstrous. These themes will facilitate connecting Summer Camp articles not only to each other but to already published articles.

Expanse

Many of the different landscapes of Valayo are expansive, from the massive forest that spans the Great Divide to the mountain ranges of the frozen north.
This category could also refer to expansive breadth of knowledge, collections, aracane practices, and even the paranormal such as the ancestral planes.

Leadership

There is much room to discuss leadership: the governing bodies of each nation; laws, customs, and belief systems; other people of authority.
However, leadership of smaller groups, organizations, and movements could also be discussed. This can include the person, as well as their ideas, actions, and philosophies.

Discovery

Discovery can encompass both recovering the past and inventing something new. From ancient texts to new magic uses, there is plenty to discover in Valayo.

Monstrous

The monsters of Valayo are its people. Some of them, anyhow. Here I'll explore monstrous deeds, nefarious plans, and dangerous groups.

The nations of Wennovi stand at the brink of war over philosophical and religious beliefs surrounding the nature and origins of magic and its acceptable uses. Tensions mount over everything from trade goods to medical care. And in the midst of all this, an old magic stirs, arising in a woman from the magic-free land of Paltetia. Her magic promises power and damnation to those who can sense its potential.
Power struggles are prominent among the people as well. The nomas of Imbria struggle for greater freedoms and socioeconomic standing in a land that greatly values witches.

Summer Camp Focus

Depending on the prompts, I would really like to flesh out the nation of Eldahi. They have long chosen to stay uninvolved in the feuds between the Magic Freedom Coalition and SETA. However, they may soon find themselves pulled into these affairs due to the aggressive actions of their neighbor, Salaris.

Planning, Scheduling, and Publishing Summer Camp 2022 Articles

My plan, if you can call it that, is simply to strike when the iron is hot. In other words, I'm a chaotic mess who cannot plan and absolutely won't stick to a plan even if I made one up. Whatever prompts inspire me are the ones I will write, and those will be written whenever I can find a quiet moment.
