The Tavern

The Tavern is a massive inn built within the Sandstone Tower.   Working at the main bar of the Tavern is an older orcish man named Birash.  Though he looks to be somewhere in the human-equivalent of his late 40s, he's run the place for well over a hundred years. Somewhere as well is Butterlump, an old Alehouse Drake who has befriended him and helps to keep tensions low and spirits high.

Architecture

This large inn and tavern is one of the largest sub-structures in the Sandstone Tower, with around 5,400 rooms for guests in total as well as a number of additional spaces. The Tavern reaches the whole height of the 2nd tier of the Tower, though it is still only a small piece of the massive city. The location is large enough to warrant its own pair of fabrial lifts, though they are smaller than those used in the center of the tower.
  • The first floor (which is around 80-feet high and nearly 3,000-feet across length wise) houses the large tavern for which the location gets its name. Curving along the outer wall of this space is a massive window made of a singular piece of incredibly thick, magically reinforced glass.
  • The second floor has a theater, as well as a number of meeting rooms which can be rented out.
  • The third floor has a large indoor pool, exercise space, and spa.
  • The fourth through sixteenth floors of The Tavern have private quarters that can be rented, with 400 on each. Each room is in actuality 5 rooms; two sleeping rooms, a bathing room, a cooking and dining room, and a living space. There is also a small balcony which can be accessed through the living space, though guests who do not enter The Tavern from the Sandstone Tower cannot access the balcony as the magic which allows them to visit The Inn does not grant access to the rest of the city or the land surrounding it.
  • The 17th floor has 300 slightly larger rooms, with the 18th floor having only 100 grand rooms.

Tourism

While it is built within the Tower, it can be accessed from many cities across Shavirouk, typically from small shack-like buildings with signs that simply name it The Inn or The Tavern. These buildings typically have two rooms. The first appears to be a small lobby with a counter behind which is a clerk and a pair of doors, one of which leads to the clerk's private quarters (which is the actual second room of the structure), while the other acts as a teleportation portal that leads to The Tavern itself. Visitors entering this way must either pay 1 silver piece to gain access to The Tavern (which does not include cost of renting a room for the night). The entry cost is waived if one of the people passing through is already renting a room at The Tavern.   Any visitor who enters The Tavern this way cannot access the rest of the Tower City, nor can they use balconies of the tower and its many rooms, though they can still see the land beyond. Upon exiting The Tavern by any means (including balcony doors), they will be returned to the same location from which they first entered, such as the aforementioned shack.
