New Jerusalem Trolleys - 404 E Wantage Street

Trolleys are electrical trains that run on rails set in the streets. They draw electric power from special overhead wires.   The ride costs 10 cents plus a penny for transfers (necessary to change from one line to another). Transfers are most easily made at the main station, by the B&M depot, or in the merchant district. The trolleys operate from 5:30 A.M. until 7 P.M. weekdays and until 9 P.M. Friday–Saturday. There is no Sunday service. Depending on the time of day, a trolley passes every 5–15 minutes.   Interurban lines, which once connected New Jerusalem with Boston and the rest of the east coast, were abandoned in the mid-1920s. However, the rails and switches still exist and would operate given power and intact cables.   Henry Mason works as a trolley driver on the New Jerusalem Trolleys and gets to see quite a bit of the town as a result, though the bits he sees are only those that can be seen from a trolley. These are the same bits, and more often than not the same people, every day. Henry spends a lot of his free time exploring the old lines, researching them at the New Jerusalem Historical Society and building models of the old lines; the last resulting in him also spending a lot of time at F&M Trains and Toys.
