Miss Rose's - 403 Fish Row

Run out of a house on the southern end of Fish Row, Miss Rose Abner lost her husband in World War II several years ago. She took in boarders to try to keep the bills paid, but ultimately she needed to do more to keep the creditors off her back. Since she was often baking pies and cakes for charities and her church, her kitchen has become her salvation. Producing dozens of delicious treats a day for a fraction of what one might spend at a more upscale bakery, Miss Rose's is one of those smaller, unofficial businesses that litter New Jerusalem.   Outside of her boarders, all regulars at this point, she lives alone except for her beloved cat Scrimblejack. Scrimblejack, who is known to most simply as Jack is a slightly chubby Havana Brown. He is a tough customer in the Fish Row Parliament who makes sure that Miss Rose never has to see or hear a rat or a mouse.   Two of Miss Rose's regular boarders are Bob Hill and James Coffin.   Bob works as a linesman in the Missituk Valley area, including New Jerusalem, fixing any problems with the electrical lines in the area. Given the nature of things, most problems tend to happen outside of the town, so he spends a fair amount of time touring parts of the Missituk Valley. He’s familiar with the area as a result, though only with those parts receiving electricity. Bob does notice which areas seem to suffer the most frequent problems, even if he might not suspect anything untoward is causing such problems.   James works as a driver for the New Jerusalem Bus Line, and over the years has done all the routes covered by the line. Currently, he’s doing the Salem/Boston run, which he generally prefers. His experiences with the Dean’s Corners/Aylesbury run, namely the sometimes-odd people who’d be heading to and from Athol at Dean’s Corners, made him request a transfer. He has stories to tell, to those with an interest, though he needs a bit of alcohol in him to really open up, and James rarely drinks due to work.
