The others left for their little jaunt in the pocket dimension and I decided to take a little nap before working on Eval's quiver. As I was just waking up I heard a loud going on in the camp. I looked out my cart to see that the wall had been breached by the tainted. I was told that they are less active at night, but I guess not so much so that they couldn't breach. I also noticed cloaked figures enter amongst all the chaos. Well I had to rouse Bessy who wasn't very happy about being woken, but I got her hooked up and pointed to the far side away from the breach. Just as we were getting going that way another breach appeared on the far side! From there I pushed Bessy to split the difference in the back part of the midpoint of the breaches. We were able to get there pretty quickly with all the commotion. I had enough time to convince my Beetle to hide herself unless someone gets too close. I ran inside my cart and put covers on all the everburning lanterns to darken everything. As such I stood guarded in the corner with that +2 sword that Eval found in the church. I heard Bessy make a move after a bit and the sound of her fighting some of those creatures. After a few moments it was eerily quiet followed by the click of my cart's door.
My door swung open and the trap wasn't triggered. Either they knew or something very bad was about to happen. Luckily it was the former as a very familiar friend appeared. Maki walked in with RRRoshin in tow as well as six watchers of the Abyss. I relaxed at seeing Maki. My cart creaked concerningly when RRRoshin stepped in. My carts' magics are stretched to their absolute limits with him entering. Unfortunately, he did not come with good news. He was ambushed and attacked much like my group was, but the difference is that Gina didn't make it. Luckily RRRoshin was able to save his scales from the attack. To take out the blue noodle, I fear what this force is able to do... Well Maki came to inform me that him and RRRoshin came looking for the necklaces and were trying to stop the ritual. I thought that having them all together was a bad idea from the start, but I should have insisted on the others leaving them with me. It would have made more sense since I have the boulder that they would have needed anyway. I was told to check who my true allies were which adds up after talking to some of those running this camp. With that I did ask Maki to show his blood much like most of our allies as of late. I also used detect magic just in case. From all that I could tell, Maki was acting of his own accord and truly believed what I was being told. I handed him the broach that Vasuki was trying to get to him and informed them of what our group was up to. RRRoshin said that the prophecy was coming to be, but not in the way that we thought or something... He also said that he wouldn't stop the ritual with the extra stone we gathered, but it seems like he too doesn't like the necklaces being gathered. Just a quickly as they came; they disappeared back into the fog.
I could tell now that RRRoshin's note was legitimate even if the necklace was not from before. My guess is that they are now taking off to try to intercept the rest of my group and get those other necklaces. I still really don't like the fact that they will all be gathered together too. I continued to guard my cart and have Bessy do similar until the camp was more secured. After that I went to check on Kniana's cart to make sure that everything was intact. I know that she would appreciate that and right now I could use her trust in me since I trust in Maki.
The loss of Gina is a blow not only to Maki but to the guild as a whole. Such loss dictates that I must react as per the will of Calistria. This is my call to arms. I now have to figure out how and what to do about my cart, my companion, and my group.
I have a rather risky idea, but one that I feel like will satisfy my desires. I plan on...convincing... Tel to accompany me back to the crystal mines with Kniana's cart in tow. I will depend on him for help to perhaps change the runegate to allow me to catchup to either Maki's or my group. I figure that I could convince my crystal kin to help keep our gear and companions safe while I ever so regretfully leave them. Calistria willing, I am able to pull this off.
