After I awoke I took it pretty easy. I only crafted for eight hours. I instead had a meal with Maki and did some more light reading of "Wears of Dragon Kind". Just as I finished that more of those rat cultists showed up. I guess this was the welcoming party part two for those demons. They started to attack the portable fort and it didn't look too good. This fort was a bit light defensively to make it more portable, but Maki and I were doing alright to repel with the mounted siege weapon. Thankfully we had help show up.
Coming to our aid was a curious sight, Kobolds riding large scorpions. They were pretty skilled and managed to drive off the cultists after a bit of a scuffle. The riders were a currious mix of of colors. I have never seen such a diverse group under one banner before. But I guess they were united by the Wyrm in their den. They had come to our aid thanks to a giant scorpion that was taken down for them. We passed it on the way out and it turned out to be the one I had spotted going into the crag later. Judging the scene I saw arrow markings in the hide, so I could figure who did it... Apparently they witnessed my companions get abducted by the local slavers soon after. I guess they come through pretty regularly. They take anyone and their belongings to a large underground market filled with foreign goods. Exotic animals, materials, and spices not that I need spices. Races of all kinds including Demons Devils and these...Nagaji. Strange snakefolk form a foreign land with heathenus beliefs and cornered trade market out in Morkai from my understanding. I wonder what I might be able to find in this desolate area to incorporate into my catalogue. Bah, maybe after I get my party back. We had much to talk of this area during our day and a half ride through tunnels that seemed to distort our traveling speed. I even had enough time to tinker with my wares to beat the heat better. I ended up swapping one of my easier devices to having Endure Elements. If I had known what we were riding into I might have changed more...
The scorpion riders, Maki, and I all arrived in the tunnel cave market where trade was happening. It looked like a scuffle was already happening; figures with this group. either way lightning was striking closer to the center of the area. I saw RRRoshin and Eval closer to the center next to some kind of hole and I pushed our squad that way to assist. I saw Eval get shanked by a lamia and seemed to loose some composure. I can't let my rapid shot companion bite it here in a common slave hall. I have to have him tell tales of my majestic wares that helped change the worlds fate! I cast Magic Mistle as not to hit Eval in between us. It didn't look too good after that, not that it mattered as Eval used what I can only describe as divine power... He was radiating light and looked as though he was on fire as he somehow drew the pure lifeforce of the lamia into his fancy new bow. He then turned and shot it right through a Tempest Elemental that trapped Lily in a glass prison. It left a two foot hole in the chest of the thing as it fell and converted into a Frestine crystal the size of well..a cat. We'd defiantly scoop that up later though. As lily was trying to run away from the advances of a rather large catfolk... Well, more guards were coming in after my archer who didn't look too good even if he was all glowy and whatnot. So I cast Stone Discus and the first shot got one of the snakekin to turn around in time for the second one to explode it's skull. Then more came for Maki and I.
A snakekin was surprised to see a Coppertail and tried to stab me while I was on top of one of the scorpions so I retaliated by launching a Stone Discus right into it's face. It gave enough time for more naga people to surround and kill my borrowed mount. One of them did some sort of magic that dulled my wits and tried to tell me my friend were fine and to come with them. Bullshit and Maki confirmed that when he slammed into her with his scorpion who got a sting in too. I was not going to be caught out so I activated my belt with Shield and Ironskin. Maki's scorpion got slain and one of the guards managed to get a lick in on me. Time for the mages to relocate. I grabbed Maki by the ankle and Dimension Doored out to the far of the battlefield just outside their range. Fortunately, it was away from a mass of limbs that was clawing its way out of a pit that wasn't there when we rode over it... The mindless were here...
Everyone got the pretty clear idea and all booked it out to a tunnel on the opposite side of the area. Kniana was flying overhead for some reason... Well getting through I overheard "get ready to collapse this thing". A bit of controlled demo work really takes me back to the mines of Lfaen. Too bad this is a bit more life threatening...
