Dawn of Fest Day 2

by Tink Coppertail

I spent the night making a tankard with Blood Transcription infused into it. My plan being to use the spell on the blood I had collected yesterday. So bight and early I cast the spell and drank the blood. It wasn't the most awful thing I have ever tasted, but it was damn near close. What followed was a grave mistake on my part. I should have known after just touching the stuff caused visions, but consuming it... oh gods... I passed out this time with another vision, one with that masked man the others were talking about. He wore a black cloak standing in a forest with black trees over a satyr contorting in pain. The poor satyr twisted in unnatural ways, fur clumping and getting nasty, the figure chuckles? cries? I can't tell. The satyr stops contorting and laid still, dark spores coming off his body. The figure has black liquid seeping from his eyes? It is hard to tell with the mask.
I awake on the floor some time later, feeling like I should have been far worse off then I am... I do seem to be able to vaguely recall a few spells, but the more I focus on one, the more I loose the others. I think that this mystery one will be what I will take down. I can recognize it as a curse, but I must go do some research to complete the notes. RRRoshin should probably know about this, the more likely I can ensure his survival, the more likely I can get more information from him about his cloths.
Well after cleaning myself up a bit, I headed out to the library to talk to RRRoshin. I told him about the vision I had as well as a bit about the curse I’ve been looking into. I didn’t tell him about what I did to learn the spell as he doesn’t need to know. He got concerned after mentioning the spell and left to grab a key ring. Seems like I get to dive deeper into this library. He led me to a brick wall that opened itself to the sides to revel a vault door. I get to access a restricted area! The only thing that he told me was to not open the bound tomes and I know I can work with that. There is even a spectral assistant to help me look for things. RRRoshin ended up locking me in for my research and left me to my devices, time to go wild! This vault gives me an uneasy feeling… Falling books in the distance that the assistant helper goes to collect, one book beaned me in the head gave me a good burse, and the head of a marble statue almost turned me into paste!
After a few hours I finally found a book that will help me finish this curse. Well I found the right book, the only issue is that it is in infernal, curious how rare the language is. Took me at least 3 other books to be able to translate it correctly. Each of the notes in infernal are signed by some individual. I can only make out part of the name as “Coup”. Turns out that the curse is one that targets fey specifically named something like Afflicted Ones, it was hard to make it out since it was in infernal. It is an 8 hour ritual that requires blood of an innocent fey and same contamination from the abysal plane.
After translating that curse I was able to go wild in this restricted section, heh heh. I was able to find some more books all bearing marks of the Glyphkin Lords having to do with spellcraft. Some were bound and others unbound, but I was able to look through 3. The first one was on spell modifications, adding or adjusting components of spells to alter their outcomes. (meta magic) The second book had a note, stamped with the Glyphkin Lord’s symbol, stating that the book’s contents were deemed as forbidden. How devilishly delicious to be able to gain such restricted knowledge. This book had spells regarding summoning a planar ally. It also has just as much written about warnings not to take the spells lightly and about dark beings with even darker powers. The last book was about binding rituals and circles to hold spirits on a plain. To me it seems like there is a theme running in this section that the Glyphkin do not want to get out. This will make great exclusivity to my wares since no one else will know… I am so glad I had the foresight to add memorize page to my goggles, I burnt all 4 uses and have to go write it all down sometime with the curse. This is an expensive endeavor, but a worthwhile trip. I will have to complete RRRoshin’s task to return to a vault for even more deliciously restricted knowledge. I will have to measure the ability of these strangers he has partnered me with.
RRRoshin comes back to check on me after some time, 4 hours? Felt like only 30 minutes with how deeply I dove into the reading. I told him about the basics of the curse and his demeanor changed for a bit. He did thank me tho and said the information will be handy. He also said that it was time for us to leave and explained why. Evidently, this vault has sensors place by the Glyphkin Lords as everything in it is theirs and these books are not for public as they only allow scholars with special permissions. He said “we can blame the spirits,” I knew that this place was off… But for someone so organized this situation must truly be important to let a mere acquaintance in to such restrictions without permissions from the Lords.
Now that my deep read is over I think I will cool my brain by watching the end of the combat tournament. If my other acquaintances are as good as RRRoshin hopes, they should still be in it yet. If they are not I might have to go about the protection of this amulet in a different manner. I must get into one of those vaults again.
After watching that last round, I have more confidence in this group. They won, barely, but they did. Exciting all around as it was literally down to the last straw. I won't tarnish this victory today with any of what I have found, RRRoshin is probably the only one I need to tell anyway. If it become relevant tho. Seems that the game master left the victory ale for me to haul for this party. Bessy gave a bit of a huff, but I was on top my cart to spectate so she was fine. I fear for the future after that vison and research, but this group gives me hope.
