I was hoping the scorpion rider got back safely through all those mindless. They spilt when we made it to the outer wall which is too bad as I think the poisons would have helped. Well, on the announce at the intended death of Skrel; Skrel shifted his weapon which was a sight. It morphed into a black orb with a red haze before returning to a new form. I'll have to ask about that later.... Because out of the darkness I saw a swarm of rats. They smelled of filth fever with glowing red eyes and they seemed to screech directly in my brain. I immediately activated my belt with Shield and Iron skin and ran to RRRoshin. On my way I activated the late Fizpin's glove and grabbed the Daylight staff to use on the plant-bear. It didn't dissipate the darkness as planned, but it did light what we could see some. After touching RRRoshin another swarm appeared nearby that Maki splashed with Alchemist's Fire. The four limbed assassin stuck his hand in one of the swarms and they're eyes glowed even more red, they grew horns and wings, and it seemed like they were speaking some infernal language as the breathed fire! And I thought Skrel was spooky enough. Well they swarmed me.
Luckily, Kniana cast Cloak of Winds on me and temporarily scattered the vermin from me. Skrel then flew by and grabbed me landing near the side of a crumbling pillar. He healed me for some as RRRoshin racked his claws against his chest and summoned Calistria's spiritual whip made of force. He used his own blood and lifeforce to cast much like Skrel. In all the commotion the guy managed to get to Skrel and pin him to the wall with one giant hulking arm with the bell in another. He spoke to Skrel in undercommon, "I will break your mind and feel as I do". That spooked me enough that my yelling turned into acid! I had used a breath weapon, and not just any, but the acid hallmark of Calistria!
On the other edge of the light Maki had pulled out a curious metal pole from his bag with Kniana's help. On activation the pole transformed into a shiny iron golem... and attacked Kniana and Maki...not a great time for an experimental build.
I was low on options and I didn't was Skrel's last bit of help to go in vain, so I activated the swords.... Maldrick, the Spirit of the blades came forth and said unto the would be killer, "Drelizra, House of Quen. Righteousness is not brought through revenge, Skrel has brought redemption for his sins, by Iomadae, Perish!" while casing Brightest Light to dispel the magical darkness. His? My? Our next move was to cleave the elf's arm off with the 8ft greatsword, grievously wounding him and causing him to drop Skrel. He stepped back and spat at us, "A soul for a soul, you die this day, no two monster can exist in this world, I shall prevail" as he attempted to stab Skrel again. RRRoshin used more of his life fore, wilting in the process, to cast Pillar of Life ironically enough. I bent down and helped Skrel to his feat casting Deathless in the process. He would not die to simple stab wounds on my watch. The elf tried one last desperate attempt to coup de grace Skrel stabbing him in the chest only for a white light to emanate from the wound. I then turned to the failed assassin and spoke, "May the Gods have mercy on you for I will not." I hefted the greatsword at length and put another gash across his chest using the tip drawing a blacked ichor he would have called blood.
He knew he wasn't going to win and started to flee. Some... things appeared to cover his escape, but I did manage to get one more shot in with some of the others as well. I quickly turned to the not yet dead Skrel and dumped in all the healing I could to bring him back. Today wasn't the day he would die.
