The mass of limbs was making it's way toward us. Some of our group had to discuss North East vs North West path while I chose closest way out. I wasn't particularly worried as I still had enough charges of Dimension Door to get Maki and myself out, but I'd rather save charges for definite danger. Eventually the rest of the group followed suit to the closest exit. Then Eval turned to gain the spotlight from the mindless. In particular, He turned and used his fancy schmancy bow. He shot it up and over the mass of mindless and the fricken arrow screeched and turned into a phenix. It then sent fire raining akin to the spell Meteor Swarm. It then dove directly into the mindless blob as a giant Fireball type thing killing it. Of course this using an immense amount of magic and caused EVERY mindless to turn towards him. I kept moving.
In the distance I saw Kniana talking to a Dwarf that had the outfit that I would guess made him a barbarian. He was over 20ft tall with a 16ft beard. Either way he had a maul that would take the combined efforts of the greater Snaggletooth and several of the Great Old Wyrm's work golems to make. He was poised and ready to absolutely destroy a load bearing pillar... After we all made it in past he did exactly that. A massive slab of stone permanently came down in a rather controlled destruction. I have to say for the amount of violence needed it was rather clean. It was pretty similar in nature to what I have witnessed in the warren before, but the activations are usually a bit more precise. After a minute to catch our breath, we hear the disturbing sounds of plaping hands against the back of the stone. The mindless must be hitting it hard to have the transfer of sound through something that massive. Seems like we were done with that mess. Also Skrel had grabbed that massive tempest crystal and the large Catfolk that was chasing Lily when I arrived for some reason.
Everyone from the market that survived, slave, slaver and marketer alike made our way down this tunnel. They had high enough ceilings that the dwarf didn't have to duck through. It also had more pillars and stones at fairly regular intervals. They have planed destruction through out this entire place. Various individuals had magical and nonmagical lights alike as there was no torches or placement available for them anywhere along the tunnel. RRRoshin had an amulet that shone like Daylight or similar. Us as a party started to regroup. We still had about a day of travel to the demon tree portal thing and the Hunter's Moon was about the same timing according to RRRoshin. We discussed time and travel so that I might try to judge if I could help with my means, not really practical yet. Kniana gave us warning of company as another plant hound thing showed up. It seemed more friendly and less bramble vine-y than then the ones I knew of. Kniana seemed to be friendly with it, but the size of a dire wolf makes me anxious without Bessy. The arrival of the wolf seemed to brighten RRRoshin as he mentioned how his lord watches over us. He then took a knee and prayed to Calistria again, still no answer. We continued down the tunnel passing various rooms before coming to a t. Our party including the scorpion rider, but curiously missing Tel, went right as everyone else went left. We traveled slightly downhill for quite awhile before the path curved back up. 40ish minutes later we made it out.
Outside the cave was a barren wasteland of runes. I don't particularly study runic magic so it was fairly drab to me. I did see a spire tip on the horizon. We started toward it as RRRoshin went from pretty drab to looking perked up after getting into the sunlight. It was about quarter to three in the afternoon, but rather than the scorching heat of the desert it was only about 53 degrees. Most races would use a jacket, us Kobolds would be getting ready for winter in the tunnels. Luckily, I had used Endure Elements while with the riders. RRRoshin said that the mindless don't like the cold and that it could get to -10 at night. He then decided to curse Calistria for not providing something like Endure Elements back in the cave and my immediate reaction was to spit at his feet. She is vengeful, and I suggested praying about his goals to her. Apparently Calistria herself gave him his task. I fail to see why she wouldn't empower him for following her task. Either way he said that he wasn't able to use an Atonement spell at the moment as he wasn't sorry for what he has had to do, yet. He also needs rare ingredients from across the continent.
We passed by some runes near the cave and Kniana staggered and walked by a little strangely. Likely another one of her visions of some sort. We stopped for a bit while she dealt with that. The group talked to the then awakened catfolk that Skrel was still hauling. I guess he was in some jungle making his way to the wedding before waking up here. He knew what Lily was, a Tibit. As rare as they are he had raised some in his time. He also turned out to be from the Giant's Brow much like Tamebrass. He asked to borrow a crystal after a quick scrub and walked behind a corner. In our pause Skrel pulled out a portable tub and Kniana filled it with Create Water for the group to refill skins, get a drink, and bathe a bit. RRRoshin simply stuck his had in the tub and he seemed to green up more as the water level dropped. Now that we had a bit of downtime I finally noticed that Skrel had wings! and about 3 puncture wounds, but still... He thanked me for the earing, but of course with Snaggletooth quality! I also handed over the boots that I, er, he finished. I think he went from a fairly slow person to potentially rivaling Eval...
The downtime finally led people to start addressing wounds. Kniana tended to Skrel's wings and wounds some even though they didn't quite fully heal from the magic, strange... Eval got some too, but I think his wounds are a bit deeper than a simple cure spell, likely he will need Restoration, much like myself. I declined healing as other needed it more. Skrel did ask me about the whole twin thing, but the topic quickly switched as a Tibit walked from the corner the catfolk was. The curious thing had the catfolk's leg bag as a backpack. He was using a Snaggletooth belt for the transformation. I asked if he got it from the shop in Valerin due to the Giant's Brow area, turns out he's from Khonfaldhir and got it from Vesuki's shop up in Grenwell. He talked of some individual that got locked up by the Gliphkin after Skrel... He said he had demonic blood and that Skrel was an abyssal servant. Baron was his name, but due to us mentioning Tamebrass's, he gave his too, Gruackoc. Apparently Tamebrass always said he was destined for stuff. We continued walking for awhile.
We got closer to the spire and came to what was an outer wall. Some elf, or human looking skeletons in armor were poised at about 30ft even intervals along it. Somethin like 230 that we could see. Along what was a main road was a Skeleton poised in full armor. RRRoshin flashed what he later said was an ambassador seal so that we could enter without issue. Once inside we passed by more skeletons, but these ones were doing mundane tasks. It seemed almost like they are continuing to carry out a daily routine like they had never died. Once we passed into the inner wall Kniana had another of her daydream like visions. A little after that A piercing scream rang out for Skrel.
An elf appeared with a scythe calling for Skrel's reckoning. The sky around us turned black to the point were it was hard for me to see. The elf's arms then split to four and the scythe turned into a bell. He rang the bell, and all sound from the area cut and only a faint calls of jackals could be heard...
